Buying a 2013 Viper...

What do you guys think a 2013 Viper will cost in about 8 or so years when I am looking for one? Let's say it is not a GTS and would have about 16-20K miles... Gotta plan you know.

Well, from historical perspectives they seem to sit at around 50% for awhile...

Guess it boils down to demand when all is said and done.

It'll be worth less than what you paid for it. It will not appreciate in value and you will not break-even on the sale.

That seems a bit much after calculating it.

On a declining balance using your percenatges after 8 full years, which takes us to 2021, it would be worth $29,172 if you start with a sticker of $130,000.

If you go 25% year one and 10% after that the price would be $46,600. That seems more like it. That's about what a good 8 year old Viper would go for today...

I do think there will be a big hit in year one... More than we are used to due to the high price. Why? Because anyone that can spend $100K+ on a car for fun will want a new one this lowering the demand for the almost new ones. The Mercedes SL500 is a good example.

A good 8 year old Viper may be 46,600 today, however they had an MSRP of $50,000 less than your $130,000 example.I doubt a clean GTS will be anywhere close to $50k used in 8 years.

I'd be thrilled if my speced $110,000 SRT is worth $40,000 in 8 years - but I don't really care. It would either have been long gone or I'll be keeping it for the long haul by then.

You would be giving that car away at $40k in 8 years. The price of admission on a new Viper increases annually as the worth of the dollar decreases. This helps prop up used values. When you are ready to sell, let me know. I'll have a stack of cash waiting.

I plan on driving the hell out of mine, so many $40k will be a good price LOL
