I packaged up 2 stock rear Gen 1 wheels back around 12/1 and shipped them off to CalChrome. Took longer than I anticipated and I had to call twice to get an acknowledgement they were even in the production stage of being chromed and finally received post chroming pictures for my inspection. Once you verify the wheels are yours they pack them up and ship them back. Pictures looked great and I was really impressed. I received two well packaged boxes containing my wheels yesterday and I couldn't have asked for a nicer looking chroming job. CalChrome's price for those wondering was $95.00 per wheel cheaper than LAWheel. For $150 bucks per wheel plus shipping I got back 2 brand new looking chrome wheels. LA wanted $245 a wheel plus shipping. I researched both places and the chroming process used was the same with both companies. Wonder why the big discrepancy? The only PITA is the shipping to the West Coast from VA.
These wheels look fantastic. Hopefully I'll have them on the car soon. Have to have my old chrome rears taken off along with the tires and remounted on the new wheels. Have a shop 5 minutes from me that specializes in custom wheel mounting and he's done mine before. My left rear old wheel had started to peel a little where the spoke was welded to the rim and the right rear had a gouge in the rim where the previous owner backed in to a curb. Couldn't stand it anymore so I bought Gen 2 wheels to switch out, didn't like the look of those so I sold those and used the money to chrome 2 out of a set of stock Gen 1's I had stored in the basement. All is well. All wheels are perfect now.
See you at Moparpalooza in the spring!

Clear your PM inbox. It's full and won't accept new messages. If not PM me your email address and I'll forward the pics CalChrome sent me.

:2tu: There's a lot of work in prepping a part before you can chrome it. I did chrome plating many years ago. Remember, don't use any type of "Abrasive" chrome cleaners. I put a heavy coating of wax, let dry, then wipe off with cotton towels. Lasted for many years. Hard to beat a good chrome job. :headbang:

They did mine 8 years ago and the chrome is pealing off. I had issues getting them to respond as it took about 3 months. When I got the rims back one was damaged by UPS. They tried to tell me I had to file the claim, of couse since I didnt pay the shipping UPS would not even talk to me. We went back and forth for a month before they agreed to file the claim. I would never do business with them again.
