Just curious if any of you used one on your car? I'm not sure if it's meant only to keep dust off an otherwise shiny clean car, or if it can be used on a car that's driven. I noticed the car picks up an inordinate amount of dust once it's been waxed, and I'd like to use the thing to brush off the car, but not if it's going to grind dirt/dead bugs/etc. into the paint.... Same reason I wouldn't put a cover over a car that hasn't just been freshly detailed. If this item's a garage queen only sort of thing, then it's probably not for me...
Thanks!

Good to have to get the dust off

You don't buff, polish, or grind with it.

Use it extensively to remove grit before replacing the car cover. Some others keep their oldest one to remove brake dust. Good product!

Good, use it before putting car cover on. The old ones are good to remove brake dust.

Love em.

The big dusters before a quick detail on the paint.

The little dusters on the wheels work great!

These are very necessary. DC should give them away when the car is purchased.

I know, huh? That's a great idea! Let's petition for that. Heh-heh. And in time for when I get my Viper. I can be the first to receive this most splendid and functional gift, for which, I assure you, I will accept most graciously and humbly. *smirk*

It is a must. I'm not an owner, but I helped my girlfriend's dad quick detail the GTS before a couple meets, and it grabs and holds dust and loose dirt. A need for any car owner wanting to keep the car clean at all times.

I get a greasy type residual (streaks) from mine so no longer use it.

Hey Steve, you know you could wash the duster once in awhile. If you use zaino z6 or other quick liquid waxes they can get into the fibers. Its okay tell the wife, she won't mind washing one more thing.LOL

Some of the knock offs will do that. Are you sure it's an original Cali. Car Duster? You might try wiping it with newspaper. Also, it's impregnated with wax, so a really hot car can melt it and cause it to streak.

Works great, use the large one for the exterior, use a small one for the interior, eventually wouldn't mind an old one for wheels...

If you are using the 'Original California Car Duster', the residual streaking is caused by the paraffin wax that is imbedded into the cotton fibers. This is what makes these things work so well. The residue will cease after continued use of the duster....it's harmless to the finish. I have used one of these for years on my cars and wouldn't use anything else.

When you own two black cars, it sure saves a lot of time spent washing and cleaning the car.....tip, don't ever wash it or you'll destroy the paraffin treatment.......just be sure to shake the sh** out of it before each use. :D :D

Agree with the above. Grease marks quit after a few uses. I washed mine in a bowl of water and Dawn and a TON of black stuff came out. Seems to still work well (doesn't seem to have removed any parafin).

Buy it, You'll love it. I bought mine for the Grand National in 1990, I am still using it (for the wheels)

I bought a new one for the Viper. Do not buy imitations, insist on the wood handle....

The worst thing to do..Don't get one...All you are doing, know matter what the room is telling you, is causing small scratches on your finish that you can't see. It's not worh it, especially on black. Its better to dust car off with air, like a power leaf blower. That duster is like all the other gizmo crap they sell..Its all BS.

Hmm. He does have a point there. LOL
Cheese has bugs all over it, but you can't see the bugs, so who cares! Heh-heh.
Okay, I care...but, hey, I don't eat cheese. *smirk*

Thanks guys; I think I'm going to get one just to try. If it scratches, I can always loan in out to the brother-in-law.... ;)

I used to use one on my daily driver, and I could swear it was causing little hairline scratches. More akin to swirl marks, but still. However, I'd think if you Zaino'd regularly enough, that you could keep up with them. Just a guess though.

My car gets DUSTY even after a day or two (on the few nice days we've had in the east, the pollen counts are insane), so I may give it a try.

I have used these dusters (buy the real wooden handle one...not the knock-offs) and they are great. Theyu will not scratch if used correctly. Just glide it gently over the car..no pressure. I even use an older one for my wheels. If you need to use pressure, you need to use some Z-6 and a towel on whatever grime you are trying to remove.

One tip is to place it on newspaper overnight before it's first use. I have done this with mine, and have never had a streak.
