I recentely put a ram kevlar disc and an aluminum flywheel with a stock pressure plate, have well over 500 miles on the car went to the strip today first launched at 2700 tires stuck car bogged, next launched at 3400 tires hooked clutch slipped, again lauched at 2700 hooked and bogged. I believe this kevlar disc should not be a problem but who knows where I question is the pressure plate i am only making 450 to the wheels but plan on at least another 100 so if I am having these problems now whats to come. Does anyone have any brands that they have had great luck with. Thanks

The one time I used a AL flywheel and kevlar clutch, it slipped even from a roll or on the dyno. At the time, my car was making 515 RWHP / 525 RWTQ. I went back to the stock clutch and flywheel, and have had no further issues.

I believe it's your Kevlar clutch that's the problem (slipping). I have the AL flywheel and stock (new version) clutch & pressure plate. I have no slipping at all. This is with near 600 rwhp. I have about 25 1/4 runs with it and 3,000 miles no problems yet.

BTW you know the bogging is normal and is unrelated to the clutch

Mes,

Yes I know bogging is not clutch related, I was just giving you my day of events. I did a search and really it seems that most all with high hp are using the stock disc, I just took that one out due to the slipping problem I smoked it right up after 4 passes it smelled real nice also, so I but the kevlar and it can't hold at 3400 I have used kevlar in the past in my ZR-1 and was able to actually dump the clucth at over 4000 with a 250 shot of nitrous and slicks pull a 1.57 60' and go so I assumed which I should have not that a kevlar disc would be the way to go with the viper maybe it is the brand and there is another I can try. I guesss if I have to put all stock back in I will but I have no problems on the street I will find out if the dyno gives it a problem on Thursday.

I use the stock clutch and don't have any problems. We have seen a bunch of different clutches put to the test, and the stock one is the way to go. But hey what do I know. I also sell these if anyone is interested for 300.00

Those of you using the stock clutch are you using the stock pressure plate? I just don't understand why the clutch both stock and kevlar slip at over 3000 there is not that much tourque that it should not bite and launch, I don't mind slipping the clucth out but really enjoy that drop and hook feeling.
