Tom,
That's a great time. I just put a second stage on the car. It is activated by a rev speed meter that send out a 12v- when the car hits a preset speed. I have it set at about 60mph. I haven't tried it yet but I'm hoping the extra 100 shot in second and third gear will be good for a couple of tenths getting me into the 6's on true street tires.
VIP-RT10,
Sorry to hear you think 1/8th mile times are useless... 0-100mph acceleration runs. Yeah whothehell needs those
I'm not sure what kind of races you get into but most of the racing I do is almost exactly the same as an 1/8th mile track. At the stoplight, light go's green I'm on true STREET tires and I smoke hisass. That's what I do in real life so that's what I set my car up for.
And while we are criticising the way others like to race I think I will give my opinion. I think some of this crap is a big waste. Lets put slicks on our cars and build up these huge dyno #'s and trailer them to the track and cut up the interior to put in 5 point harnesses and rollbars and lets take the car to the track and run the hell out of this beautiful $80k car. And then when we drive it on the street (what it was designed for) we'll get smoked by a z06 with a 50shot because we cant control all of that power.
To me that sounds a little useless. Now I am not knocking EVERYONE with a big hp car. I love power. I would love to have 900rwhp but I wouldnt do it to just take it to the track. I am considering a heffner package but I will have to accept that in most races I will come across I will probably be a little slower with more power. Now if I can "engineer" the race to my advantage (60mph roll on) then thats great but most of the races I've come across are stop light to stop light. And your useless 1/8th mile time will leave you sitting at the light.
Just my opinion...
O.K. I have braced myself... let 'em rip.
