:D Has anyone put a hood scoop like the ones on Gen 2 on a Gen 1,where did you get it and who put it on?
 I feel not only does it look good but it would also help the heating problem  :hitfan:
Thanks
Joe

Scoop???? Gen 2 does not have a scoop.

Do you mean the Naca duct OR air vents?
Both can be done, but will result in repainting of the hood.
Why not go to the "Far side" and get one of Roger's hoods?

I am considering the NACA duct myself, I spoke to a guy Chuck Tator recommended who has done lots of custom work on Vipers, when the GTS first came out in 96, he was doing lots of these conversions on GEN1 cars. $2k out the door installed, prepped and repainted hood. I am considering it still.

But depending on whatelse you do, the USEXOTICS Diamondback hood like REDENUF93 has looks AMAZING! I belive that is $5k, not sure if that is painted or not though...GOOD LUCK!

Thanks James for the reply I will get a hold of Tator and see if he is still

NP Joe, the body shop is Indian Auto out of Katonah, NY. You need to speak to Paul. The Phone # is (914) 232-3240. Paul does AMAZING work, he painted my GEN2 Fascia. Good luck Joe. :2tu:

You don't have much choice if you destroy the Gen I hood, since they are not made any more.

Note: If you have a '96 or later Gen I, you likely already have the inner hood made for both the NACA duct and vents. If you have one of these hoods, you'll see this. Keep in mind, these are also the rarest of hoods, Gen I outer skin, Gen II inner skin.... only on '96 and '97 RT/10's

To help get the heat out from under my hood, I went with the Autoform vented cowl, and sawed out a hole under the drivers side "speaker grill" (lower right in this photo). I had the Gen II NACA duct put in (blended in fully, not set in like on Gen II's), got it from Autoform, The installer beefed it up a bunch as it was a bit thin. These vent louvres are from a Jag, something a little different. You can buy lots of different vent louvres from Autoform and US Exotics.

What's strange on my gen1 viper is that after installing the K&N carbon fibre box and cone filters, it is essential to install a naca duct!

I dont see how my air filters are getting any air in except throug a very small area behind the radiator!!!! It *****!

It should get air from in front of the radiator, not behind. And it doesn't become restricted until the elbow over the radiator.

I would highly recommend not cutting a NACA air duct out. The previous owner to my car did and I have two or three paint cracks on the hood. They are very small and very few people notice them but they get worse as time goes on.

I have seen a Gen II hood on a Gen I car but I did not ask if it took modification or if it was a direct bolt on. Someone with one for sale next to mine on e-bay said it would fit any year 92-02 but I wouldn't trust that source, I would ask someone who has done it. You could save you stock hood for resale and bolt on an aftermarket or used Gen II hood, finding a place to store it is another issue in itself.
