This might sound far-fetched, but if this happened in a public street and not in your driveway, there are stores and gas stations, etc that videotape the street in front of their establishments. So, for example, if there was a store across the street, you might be lucky enough to get it on video.

My buddy is a detective and he said they catch people like this all the time.
