Let me start off by listing recent car activity.

all changed this Spring:
New 172 degree thermostat.
New Spark Plug Wires
New Spark Plugs

Summer now 95 degrees:
Went on a long drive through the hill country. Pull over for lunch. Car cranks and takes 3-4 seconds before it fires and starts. Since then, ever time I go to start my car, the same thing. I feel like I need to pump the gas peddle just like I used to do in my old 67 mustang. Very Weird.

I checked the Service Manual and didn't find anything.

Any suggestions on what this is and how I might fix it before I take into the shop and take up my time along with the Tech's time?

Thanks in advance guys!

Sounds like a check valve in the fuel system has failed allowing the fuel pressure to drop off when the ignition is off.

When my battery was getting low.....let me rephrase that.....just before my battery totally failed, I experienced trouble starting. The starter sounded sluggish and it took several seconds to start. If your starter sounds quick and lively, it must be a fuel issue. If your starter is sluggish, replace that battery soon. Good luck!

Battery. Check the voltage when the car has been sitting for a day or 2. If it's below 12.6V, that's your most likely culprit. Mine was doing the same a month ago and the voltage was about 12.1V. Then on an event day, it went down to 9V and died.

car never sits for more than a day or two. It is not sluggish as all. If I give is a pump on the gas peddle it seems to work...

Yup, tried that and it still acts the same way. It is a new battery and the starter is not sluggish at all. It is acting like the car is an old carborated car from the 60's very odd.

Have you checked to see if there any fault codes? there are some failures that cause a delayed start like the cam sensor. Not sure if it would cause a MIL back with a 1994.

1.Install a fuel pressure gauges to see if your pressure is droping when you turn your car off. :nono:

2.Check your Vapar Canister . :hitfan:

Not on a Gen I. Have to connect a scan tool to the PCM. I cannot recall if you could read the blinking check engine light as well.

For that matter, I don't recall the Gen I car having a problem with the fuel check valve - I don't recall hearing of that problem happening until the '96 coupes (first Gen II's).

I've had my 93 RT/10 for about 5 years and it's always been slow to fire up compared with other Vipers so if this fix is still available I'd be interested.

Let us know how you get on. Thanks.
