Re: Car Won\'t Start

Bruce,
I do hear a click from the rear when I turn the key- I think it is the relay. But no pump sound. But something has to be tied in to the alarm system not working. I arm the system and open the hood, and nothing happens. Same with the rear hatch. I am going to disconnet the eem, and the pcm, reprogram the vec2 and see if anything changes.
I also must have a bad fuel check valve as there is no fuel at the relief valve.
Can you tell me how to short out the relay. I think there a 5 or 6 prongs on it.
Thanks
Gary

Re: Car Won\'t Start

I think the wiring diagram is in the manual (don't have it or the car close by to give you more specifics) but I popped the case off of the relay and traced the pins from the relay wiring. To track down my problem I then put a toggle switch in parallel with the NO contacts on the relay so I could bypass the relay at will in order to track down my problem. If you hear the relay click when you hit the key your problem has to be the wiring from the relay to the the pump, the fuse or the pump itself.

Bruce,
Yes that is what I was thinking- if the click I hear is the relay that shoots the whole alarm system theory. Of course that click could be something coming from the rear. I am going to check the fuse, and relay with a volt meter and hopefully that will tell me.
Thanks
Gary

Re: Car Won\'t Start

Well - I finally got the car started. I played around with the fuel pump fuse, checked the socket for the relay and saw that it had power. I then put the relay back in and when I turned the key I heard the pump. What a sweet sound :headbang:
The only problem is now I don't know what was wrong. It's either a loose wire, or bad relay. I tried autozone and pepboys and neither has the relay. Anyone know where to get it?
Thanks to all that replied
Gary

Re: Car Won\'t Start

Bought our fuel pump relays thru the Dodge dealer....I do carry an extra one in each Viper as most dealers around here do not always stock them.

The relay CAN get loose, and some are hard to reinstall.

Glad to hear that you are up and running again.

The same thing happened to me. It turned out the wire leading from the battery to the fuel pump had broken or corroded. Cost a couple of hundred for diagnosis and repair.
