Those airboxes are beautiful in person. Good luck with the sale.

So what is everyone's opinion when people used to cut out / remove the rain baffle in the stock airbox?
If there are any gains to removing the baffle, this box should have the same benefits if any.

I removed the baffle in my GTS. I hear it makes a difference but it's not something you are going to feel. Anyone claiming that they feel a difference with 5 or so hp on a 450+ hp car is just fooling themselves. I have heard of people saying that they were able to slightly drop e.t.s and raise trap speeds with the baffle delete, but once again, a few hp is a grain of sand on a beach of variables.

Explaining Viper things to you
MY GOD!!! I can't believe I haven't been following this thread more closely!

Ladies...! CalmTF down!

Now... Short of painting your hood vents white for reduced drag, my personal belief is that there is probably truth to the matter that the NACA duct becomes less than functional as speed increases. That would leave the air to intake at the gap around the inside of the airbox - under the hood. With the factory airbox.

With my factory airbox I have the Roe duct and the Vipair. All jokes aside on the Vipair, I believe that COMBINED with the Roe duct it is problem solved with the NACA opening.

Of course I also stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night, so *** do I know.

Lookie. More rolleyes.

JUST as an FYI, as I do not want to get into another massive magic bean thread..

quite a while ago I had an in depth discussion with Gerry Mallicoat and he reviewed the Vipair concept and compared it to his "race experience" he said that the vipair IF COMBINED with the closure of the NACA duct ie use a black piece of plastic or similar to close so it still looks PRETTY, that the user would see greatly improved ROAD horsepower to the same tune as the increase he saw on teh GTSR race cars (I have a picture of the GTSR airbox up front, it looks alot like a vipair), at the time I pondered creating a spring loaded NACA closure device that would close as the vacuum was starting to be created in the airbox, this way you would still get as much fresh air stop ight to stop light as well as benefit once the car got moving to those "closed course speeds". But, the bottom line is that product develpoment requires lots of investmet in time and $ and then there is the BS of trying to get people to look at the physics vs the BS when it comes to making a buying decision to then compensate one for the trouble. Bottom line is the reward is not there.

BAZ - I made this Carbon Airbox in this thread, it will fit with the ROE, I can help you with how to if you need. I actually gave this airbox to OK after my shipping girl shipped a carbon fiber vipair that he bought to someone else by accident and shipped him a plastic one. The carbon one then ended up on EBAY.

These fit great, especially with a ROE and it will increase HP at speed as the air is venturi fed into the throttle bodies VS the sharp almost 90 degrees of the stock airbox.

I'd imagine that the Vipair combined with the Roe front fascia kit (and closure of the NACA opening) would be a great combination in maximizing airflow to the airbox? On the carbon fiber airbox, would these accomodate bigger TB's hence larger intake tubes? 3"? Do you still make these boxes?

Tony,

The intake tubes on these airboxes is 3", you actually need reducers to use with the stock throttle bodies, these fit accufabs perfectly, and YES I have a bunch in stock in both Carbon like this one and in paintable fiberglass

Didn't I ask you for a fiberglass air box like this one a year or two ago?

I'll be real surprised if this airbox sells for $600+. I hope you get it, but no way is it worth that much.

$620 this morning. :eater: Compared to some of the other forms of CF airboxes I've seen on eBay this one looks like a masterpiece.

So, are you surprised?
I love expert opinions.
You probably had McCain picked to win, also.
(although I voted for him...)
