I don't think anyone noticed but did you see the wavy door sill on that SSG car. It looked horrible. I am still not convinced that this stuff will stand up. It sounds good in theory, light tough etc but I agree that it would get chipped all to heck and forget about touching this stuff up...it just can't happen. Also good luck with the UV rays...GM had to develop a expensive "coating" for the ZR1 so the roof panel would not delaminate. Good luck and call me in a few years.....This stuff works well on race cars that are crashed and bashed and parts are continually being changed. Won't hold up. Just my .02.

That SSG photo was taken during the sill fitment. It is raw cf?? It was being cut etc to make the final??? None of the photos, including the most recent, do not have any clear yet. The panels you are looking at are ready to paint or clear.

FWIW.. You might wait for final "for sale" version to make a judgement. Kinda' like looking at a "framed out" house under construction and saying that you don't want to buy it because it looks "drafty" without walls...;);)

I will be getting several parts and will post photos. My cf hood should be here soon.

At the prospective price, it will be worth it to fully paint and use these utralight panels instead of OEM panels.

how about 1800 for pair, you can paint them, they don't yellow,
cheap carbon polyester with gel coat would yellow, these will not.
these units in the picture are getting ready to be painted red to install on a 99 gts that wanted side exhaust.
raw carbon is for some people, others can paint them to the color of there choice.

I have personally seen these parts. They are nice. I have seen the CF prototype pieces too. Mike got me a set of CF rocker covers that are getting "cleared" right now.Delays come about because the fabrication process is one guy and he really takes pride in his work. Mike said he wishes he could have the parts the guy threw away because he wasn't happy with the quality. Another delay getting the CF parts is because the guy has long standing "race" customers that need the parts NOW. And they pay big buck$...

I am going to experiment with tinting the clear that is applied to the CF. Similar to the process done on headlight/tail light lenses. I'm hoping a darker "clear" will take some of the "rice" look out. I am planning to paint the sides of the rockers car color and paint the top of the rocker with the darker clear. We'll see...
Obviously ,you could put a color tint in the clear to match the car color...
