As some of you know, I just installed a B&B cat back system.
Should I reset my computer and if so, how should I do it on a 2000 GTS.
Is disconnecting the battery for a few minutes enough to do it?

Bigfoot,

I would disconect it, just disconect the battery terminal under the hood for 10 min or more and you will be fine.

Have never had to reset computer with installation of CORSA cat-back (5)...doubt that you will need to either.

Disconnecting the battery does NOT reset the ECM. You MUST remove the cover and disconnect the three molex connectors.

We actually proved this at the dyno today on a 01 RT/10.

How did you "PROVE" this at the dyno???

The PCM runs OPEN loop at WOT. The learning has to do while in closed loop at partial throttle.

At WOT the PCM runs from preprogrammed maps that are not learned.

The PCM is flash and EEPROM based. There are NO large capacitors or back-up batteries in the PCM. Disconnecting the power, whether from the battery or at the Molex connectors would accomplish the same thing.

This is the same edebate we had standing at the dyno. We did several baseline pulls. We disconnected power for about 5 minutes and ran another pull on the dyno. Numbers were consistent with immediately prior (which were lower than anticipated).

We then disconnected the ECM and repeated with an 8HP gain.

How many additional dyno pulls did you do? 8hp = only 2% delta between runs...

Was the 8 hp gain over the entire run, or just the peak hp reported? I ask because the peak figures are sometimes misleading when you look at the squiggle of the curves, and also sometimes right at the end of the curve there is a slight up glitch that I think is really more of an glitch on the dyno then the real HP...

We ran the dyno all day. On three different dynos with two different manufacturers we have seen improvements after physicsally disconnecting the ECM with no difference after a 1-5 minute power interruption.

That's ALL I have to say.
