I'm looking to keep the SRT quiet, but get rid of the sill heat, and some undercar heat. I was thinking of taking off the smaller two catalytic converters. What have been the best methods you've found to cut down heat, while keeping the exhaust fairly quiet? :usa: :2tu:

Corsa exaust (Not the track version) I heard is good for cat backs that should reduce the heat

Perhaps you should consider purchasing the hi-flow cats from parts rack. If ordered with the 2.5" outlet, it is a direct bolt-in replacement for all the original cats. Only two cats with this system. You could then save your original four and return the car to stock when necessary with a little work. Benefits are cooler running and weight reduction, possibly more power-but with the first two who cares? I am considering this for myself, cat-backs are not for me as I like the car QUIET. Hell, just to show you are a good citizen you could leave the sills off when you go for inspection so they could see your originals still in place.

Just ordered the 3" cat and Corsa track system from Parts
Rack. They tell me it will make 17 to 19 hp, lower side
sill temp 150 F, lower foot well temp and behind seat temp,
no cross over. They also said it was one of the quitter
systems and no resonance. Also got the K&N setup. Should
have it all installed in a few weeks.

I was planning on going with the same route as RD but I'm actaully doing a secondary cat delete, with corsa track, and K&N will make before and after videos of the exaust.

I’ve stated before that I’m a cheapskate so naturally I went with the cheapest cat-back I could find. The system I purchased is from Mopar Performance. It basically consists of Borla XR mufflers and some short pieces of pipe that comprise the tailpipes. The tip is rolled-edge stainless steel just like the exhaust that sells for $700.00 more. I purchased it from one of our fine sponsors here. Prior to purchasing it, I asked him if there was any reason I need to spend $700.00 more for the “other” system that seems to be popular with Viper folks. He said no. The system I got cost $550.00.

It’s been on for over a week now and seems fine. I wish it was a bit louder at idle but since I’ve never heard the “other” system, I have nothing to compare it to. When I get into the throttle, it gets rather loud. At WOT it kind of sounds like your standing next to a twin-engine turbo prop airplane going down the runway.

I guess the bottom line is that without ever hearing other systems out there, it’s impossible for me to say whether it was the right choice. Some folks complain about “drone” with certain systems. I have no idea if my exhaust “drones” since I have no idea what people perceive as “drone”. To me, it sounds fine. Perhaps someday I’ll hear another system that’ll make me change but until then, I’ve got better sound, less heat, and supposedly better power for $700 less than the “other” guys.
