CAUTION - Potential Problem on SRT-10\'s
While installing a navigation system and XM Satellite system in my 2003 SRT-10, we had to remove a few components under the hood. While the air intake was removed, we noticed that the belt on the drivers side of the engine had worn away the mesh covering of a hose and started to wear on the hose that passes by the belt on its way to the bottom of the fan assembly.
I'm not sure what is inside this hose but it would be hard to notice or repair on the road if it was cut and leaked. We temporally used a plastic tie to pull it a small distance away from the belt so it would not cause any further damage. The problem is the area it needs to be relocated is on top of the steering joint. If it is moved to far to the right when the steering wheel is turned the steering assembly may wear on the hose. This may be something Dodge may want to look at correcting? Any thoughts from those of you with tech knowledge?
