CCW\'s, 355 or 345\'s???

Need some experienced help guy's. I plan on getting ccw 19's, what size tire should I get on the rear. I don't really want to lower the car, so would I be better going with 345/30 or should I still go with the 355/25. I know more meat on the ground is better, but I'm afraid the gap will look funny. Opinion's and experience would be appreciated, thanks. If anyone has pics of the 505's on a viper with the car not lowered, it would be very helpful.

LOL, it's you!!!!!! Hahahhha, ok ok, i'll be nice... :)

If you do that math, the 355/25/19 tire diameter is the same as the stock diameter, so your wheel well gap won't change any if you go with the 355's. You'll just have 1 inch more of wheel and 1 inch less of tire...

lol, thanks for taking the higher road Peter, I wish you knew me better. Maybe we can start over. That means the 345/30's would actually fill in the gap more than stock right? Also do the 355's make that much of a difference performance-wise?

Re: CCW\'s, 355 or 345\'s???

(Starting over)

Here's a breakdown for you:

Stock diameter - 25.9 inches

355 tire diameter - 26.0 inches

345 tire diameter - 27.1 inches

You will basically have 2.1 inches of increased diameter with the 345, but keep in mind, 1/2 of that increase in diameter will be on top and 1/2 will be on bottom. Your car will actually sit 1.05 inches HIGHER with the 345's than with the stockers. In simple terms, you will fill in approximately 1.05 inches of wheel well with the 345's. Just keep in mind, it'll look silly b/c your car will sit higher in the back.

As for performance, you won't see/feel much difference.

right, that's why you said it would be nice if they made 285/35's. Thanks man.

I don't think the 345's look that bad.

I definately do NOT think the 345's look bad! They do look bulky though, and not as good as the 355's.... :)

might wanna work on your math their oh human abacus.

Car will sit 1/2" higher than stock, tire beign a total of 1" taller. IMO 345's look great.

My fault pythagoras! That's what happens when a hurricane is bearing down on you as you're trying to do some quick calculations. Numbers fixed!

Still think the 355's look MUCH better.

Your car will actually sit 0.6 inches HIGHER with the 345's than with the stockers. In simple terms, you will fill in approximately 0.6 inches of wheel well with the 345's. I have Michelin PilotSports 345s on rear with 19 inch wheels all around. The tires are pretty much flush with the body of the car.

I think the previous owner lowered vehicle. There is an edge/lip or ridge under the front of the car. It is 3 inches off the ground. I think maybe stock it would be 5 inches.

As you know I use the car as a daily driver and being lowered in this way has not been a problem.

Re: CCW\'s, 355 or 345\'s???

Good morning acrdakota

I really don't know (slightly embarrassed). Bought the car 5 months ago or so as you see it. Thought everything was stock. Didn't even understand what the FE plaque was about. Bought it from a mercedes dealer, who advertised it as a RT/10 so I'm thinking he didn't know much about a Viper either. Previous owner traded it in on a merc.

I can tell you this...for me it's not a show car (i keep it clean best I can)...it's not a track (just drive it around as I would a Buick)...it's just a get up and everyday go car. Very very reliable...(only expense was $116 oil change) once you get used it and give it the proper amount of respect, nice to drive even in heavy rain. AC has performed wonderfully all through a very hot and humid summer. I use it 7 days a week: to work, grocery store, a little cruising and usually 35 bucks of gas will get me through a week. I drove about 700 mile round trip to Houston (3 weeks ago)and it was a pleasure doing that too.
