CD changer ate my CDs

I checked the manual and searched the forums but can't find an answer. I have the stock radio with 6-CD changer in my 2006 fully loaded with CDs. My battery went dead so I replaced it. When I fired up the first time after hooking up the battery, the CD changer started cycling through the CDs (as it has before when I disconnected the battery). I turned on the radio before it finished (not sure if that matters) and since then the unit doesn't let me select mode CD. It's as if no CDs are loaded. Everything else works fine though.

Anyone know how I can fix this?

you prob jammed it, try discounecting the power and re connecting. maybe pull the fuse

I tried disconnecting the battery and pulled the fuse. Still not seeing the CDs. The changer didn't cycle this time after reconnecting the battery. I think you're right about it being jammed. Not sure what I can do short of taking the head unit out and pulling it apart.

its probably going to die soon... same thing happened to me and eventually the cd changer was unable to cycle at all. there are so many cheap options for significantly better than stock alternatives, I would take advantage of the opportunity

It seemed like it was already dead because it wasn't cycling at all anymore.

But just now something happened that has me confused. I drove for an hour and stopped for gas. The changer started cycling as soon as I turned the key. After letting it finish cycling, the CDs show up and play just fine.

I'm wondering if it's a battery problem. I had an Optima Red Top that died in 8 months so the auto parts store replaced it under warranty. They suggested going with a Blue Top since they handle deep cycles better. The changer problem happened after I put the Blue Top in. The car struggles a bit on a cold start. Never had that problem with the Red Top.

Also noticed something else. When the changer wasn't working, the speakers would pop a couple minutes after I turned off the car. Doesn't seem to be doing it now that the changer is working again. Makes me wonder if I had a short.
