Central Florida Drag Race at Gainesville

Thinking about going up to Gainesville on Friday before the Central Florida Drag Racing event on Oct. 11th. Anyone else going to Gainesville on Friday? If so I can look into getting a hotel close to the track for everyone. Please advise, the event starts at 8 am on Saturday.

Weather in G'Ville has been awesome lately. It drizzled a little tonight but it's been cool out pretty much all day.

I grew up in Gainesville, so I know the lay of the land, however it has changed a lot in 20 years. The two hotels that I think would work best for us, in terms of distance to the track and a safe area for our cars are the Hilton and the Best Western. The Hilton is in the center of the city close to the University, restaurants, etc. It is $99.00 / night, but if we book more than 5 rooms we could get a group rate. The Best Western is off I-75 and is $79.95. Both Hotels are new and nice, the Hilton is probably one of the nicer hotels in town. Let me know via this post or a private message if you want a room. I will call the hotels in the morning and see what the group rates are.

Looking at long range forecast....it only forecasted until next Tuesday .... but temps are dropping...Monday and Tuesday.....NICE!!!!! POWER making weather!!!

No discount from the Hilton, unless we get 10 rooms. The Best Western will give us the AAA rate of $71.00 / night. Those who want a room please adivse.

Prices are up, rooms at the Hilton are now $109.00 / night. Most people seem to be leaning toward staying at the Hilton. If we get to 10 rooms we will get a group rate.

The Hilton's phone number is 352-371-3600, but let me know if you are going to stay there as I need to try and work the group rate.

Is this not near the edge of the University of Florida.... Those pretty young college coeds sure have an appreciation for a good looking hotrod ..... ( you know I am talking of my car and not myself). Nice choice of hotels and a great rate for a first class hotel !!!!
