My battery is getting weak. Is there a thread for How to change the Battery procedure and which battery is best/stock and re-set for windows, alarm etc after disconnect?

I did a search but can't find it. :dunno:

I gather the battery is behind the Driver's side rear wheel? I have to remove the wheel and take off the panel?

Thanks.

Pick up one of these and you can save your radio presets and not have to deal with the computer having to re-learn how to idle.

You must be registered for see images

IMO,,,I'd install a red top Optima battery, gel cell technology. Top post model will do the job,,,although combo post model will also work, but $10+ more.

Three year free replacement,,,six year pro-rated warranty.

Gel cell technology eliminates the mess of corrision on your electrical system,,,,,hence, longer life of computer, etc.

Cost is high, true,,,,but well worth the piece of mind in the long run.

Good luck....

Great info! Thanks.

Regarding the lighter plug-in would hooking a battery charger to the Battery post in the engine compartment do the same thing?

Mine only made it 2 1/2 years and then croaked. At least the replacement was free.

Optima sold out to Johnson Controls a few years ago. I guess quality control has gone down hill with the switch.

A older one (pre Johnson Controls) will last forever

Most good chargers/tenders need to see a few volts or they will not work at all. It's a safety feature to keep you from hooking them up backward or shorting the clips before getting them on the battery. Not sure what would happen if you put a charger in manual mode to override that? I don't think I wold try it, too easy and cheap to do the 9 volt thing.
