My Check Engine light came on the other day and the scanner shows P1494. This code is related to the LDP/Evap system. This much I know. Now I have been told by several people that it is likely the gas cap. That's fine, but is there any thing else I could/should check. I will probably pick up a new gas cap (from the dealer) today, but I would like to know if there is any other likely culprits in case it is NOT the gas cap.

Thanks
Mark

Were you low on gas when it happened? Mine throws a code when I only have a few gallons left. When you do a cold start the pump pressurizes the system and sees if it can pressurize it and how long it takes to bleed down. Air is compressible and gas isn't so it takes longer to pressurize the tank when it's low and that can throw a code.

Hmmm. It was a little low, but it has been lower without any problem.

I am going to try to make it, but as a spectator this time.

gas cap or check the rubber seal around the base of the filler tube, mine had a tear in it from taking it apart and has been throwing a code since, but i think i finally have it fixed.
