Checking a car for water damage

I'm going to check out a car this weekend for a possible future Viper owner

Car fax showed up clear (for whatever that's worth) but one of the previous dealers that had the car specializes in flood damaged/salvage cars. The details are a little sketchy and I want to be sure what to look for.

What can I look for (without putting it on a rack) for possible water damage? I've owned mine for several years and know the normal items to check but thought I might get some input for 'the experts' here.

Pull the rugs and check for warped wood or water stains....

I went out back, pulled all the carpet from my Viper, and I can't find any wood!

The wood is there! It is under the floor boards. Keep digging...
