I continue to look Atari Generation V. 2014s appear not to be discounted. What would you do?

1. Buy a B/W for 127k
2. Buy a solid color and send it to Prefix. I can get a 131k GTS for 117k.
3. Not buying an ACR. Like the one I have and I am sure the new one will be north of 140k.
4. Wait and see if paddle shifter comes out....I know heresy.
5. Buy a T/A ( Sorry but I think it still should be T/E....track edition) T/A makes me think Trans Am. Just my two cents.
6. Other choice
7. Shoot myself :ponder:.....not an option or just say screw it and walk away

If I had a 2008-2010 ACR I wouldn't budge. Let SRT sort out what they are doing. Locally here in FL there are dealers with mulitple vipers offering discounts. 10K-12K off a 140K car still makes it a unmodifiable 128K car. I expect more or at least the ability to do more at that price.

My strategy right now is to let winter set in while settling for my simple ole gen4.

If some, any, like at all, interesting info comes from SRT on the 2014's or anything in the future, then I can thing about that. That aside .. I'm thinking a totally base 2014 in Silver. Then, do black custom rims, stripe(s), and wait for other mods. OR, do one of the SRTs hangin around from 2013 that's deep discounted this winter, pick it up with Track Pack, which is the only option I wanted in the 1st place, then black out the wheels, red paint the cal's, wait for other mods with a ton of cash in my pocket. That's my completely flexible and barely defined plan at the moment .. and if they announce some insane C7Z07 thing from GM, I don't even know then.

SRT is really testing my 15 year loyalty.

I am waiting until:

1. They offer a seat that I can sit in. The current one does not have enough padding for my lower back. I heard that one is under development.
2. Power is either increased or the code is opened up in some fashion to allow mods. There needs to be more power under the curve available at lower RPMs.
3. They do whatever is needed to get rid of the dreaded BOG on launch. If not for all Vipers, at least have it as an option for those who hate the BOG.
4. The crosshair grill is dumped and an SRT brand grill is used to really establsih the Brand. It would also make the front look more mean - more Viper like.
4. I can delete some of the "luxury" stuff that I do not need and that I will never use. They offer this with all the other SRT vehicles.

Until the above happens, I am not in the market to replace my car which I have modded to perfection for my needs. It is bullet proof. It is a Spartan warrior.

Well, I do have a life:D. I am doing locum tenens. I spent eight months in Honolulu working for Kaiser. It was tough...car provided, condo on Waikiki beach and paid for it. The other four months was working for the Health Services of New Zealand on the South Island. Spent the summer taking time off in Seattle and am awaiting a pending job offer back in Honolulu. Do not have to deal with Obamacare. It is a great change after 28 years of 24/7.

I do not plan ever to sell my ACR. Classic as far as I am concerned. Not to be off topic but how many of you think there will be a Generation 6 car? I kind of doubt it and that is why I am looking at a Generation 5.

Bob...I also agree about the seats but I am sure you can change them out when the more padded seats arrive.

There are still new Gen IV cars sitting around, I don't think anyone should feel the rush into a Gen V, even if it's the "last Viper" (which I hope not) I am sure you will be able to get your hands on one when the time comes..

Good to hear from you, Bob.

Well, I'm more of the 'carpe diem' kind of person. Life's too short, enjoy today. So I sprung for the 2013, absolutely love it! I think it's an exceptional machine. Why did I buy now? Because it gave me the chance to enjoy it this summer. A 3 day weekend in Santa Barbara with my Viper brothers from all over CA. Wine country last weekend with my lady and the Norcal Vipers. But what really made me appreciate this machine was the track day at Thunderhill, where my Gen V was able to run faster laps than a Ferrari 430, a Ferrari 458 Challenge on slicks, a Saleen S7, a McClaren MP4-12C, a number of Z06s, and everyone else that day. This thing is beauty and the beast all in one package!

Since you have an ACR, I'd get a GTS unless you plan on tracking it often. Believe me, the GTS is plenty capable enough that I see no need for a TA. Nice to have the comfort of the two-mode. With the TA, it will be stiff and stiffer. Not that it's that comfortable in the street mode of the GTS, it's firm. Add the carbon aero kit to the GTS and you will be turning laps competitive with your ACR, and be able to enjoy wine country the next day.

Regarding the seats, they were the biggest surprise for me. I have a herniated disk and a shoulder that acts up. Well after an 800 mile road trip, I found them very comfortable. No pain, supurb support for touring and for the track. Heck, I get back aches driving my SUV for extended periods of time, but not in the Viper.

I would go for the blue and white, simply beautiful car. Nice to be able to keep the ACR, as well. Congrats on reaping some benefits on many years of personal sacrifice and dedication in your profession. Enjoy your decision/ultimate purchase.
