I love my 2013 Viper and I have no buyers' remorse about having paid the "intro" price that is a bit more than the newly discounted MSRP, so do me a solid and tweak the $15K voucher to be at least be good toward any SRT vehicle and not require me to trade in my viper.

I bought a TA About three months ago what good does the voucher do me? Do they want me to buy two viper's? Trade this one in and lose my ass? At least let me get a truck, car, hellcat something other then a different color viper. I'm not one to post on forums but I traded my SLS in for this car. And I feel that dodge is sticking it in our rears with such a limited coupon.

The idea is to move Vipers, not Challengers and Chargers. Those will sell on their own just fine.

If they really want to move them, they should give a $15K vouchers to everyone who has ever bought a new Viper. In that case they owe me 2 vouchers. I just might buy another one if I had 1 voucher.

Exactly my point. They basically mailed out a coupon knowing that most people aren't going to bother using it.

The idea is to move Vipers, not Challengers and Chargers. Those will sell on their own just fine.

Is that the idea? Because this is probably the most back-asswards way of going about it.

Some random corporate executive:

"Hey there guy who just bought a 2013 or 2014 Viper! We just lopped the balls off the upcoming Viper model's MSRP because we didn't have the foresight to actually advertise the car when we relaunched, and we thought its price was the thing that's holding sales back. So here's a coupon for you to use to get a brand new discounted 2015 or newer model if you trade in the one you just bought and are perfectly happy with. And remember, it's a Dodge Viper not a SRT Viper...next year we're trying out a mononym so it will just be Viper."

Right...that totally makes sense. They should have that black guy do a "Don't Touch my Viper" commercial instead of sending out these coupons.

I agree. What recent 13 & 14 Vipers would want to trade their car in on a new one? And even if they all do, which is impossible, the numbers of recent purchasers are small. If Dodge REALLY wants to sell the existing backlog, don't bother giving the dealer $15000, and a separate $15000 coupon for recent Viper purchasers, just drop the price by $30000. That will open up the discount to the entire public.

I was told by the SRT Coupon hotline today that the coupon only applies to new 13, 14 and 15 Vipers. I asked for her to have her supervisor check this and confirm. If true, the coupons are truly next to worthless for recent purchasers. I purchased a 2014 GTS in July and certainly do not want a 13, 14 or 15 based on current information. Possibly a 16, 17 or 18 Gen VI, but not a Gen V unless remarkable, unprecedented changes are made. In addition to depreciation, sales taxes alone in California (based on the entire car amount, not less trade amount) exceed $10k.

Hopefully, the revised Coupon will apply to any New Viper purchase prior to the 1/2/18 Coupon expiration.

I think it stinks the voucher really isn't yours. Y'all should be able to "give" it to whoever you like, even on a Viper only sale. The market has determined the selling price of the Viper, let the market determine the true value of these vouchers, too. Hundreds of Vipers would sell by the end of the year if current owners could get a nice after-sale rebate for early voting with their wallet.

I see a win, win, win. Another Viper on the street, true "cash back" (say, $8k for a $15k voucher) to current owners, and a bonus rebate (by having a voucher in hand) by the next new Viper owner.

Unless, SRT really doesn't want the vouchers used ... and more Vipers sit in showrooms.

The voucher expires in over 3 years from now. By then, depreciation will have stabilized on your TA, and you likely won't lose your ass on anything. Then, it will be nice to have that voucher, should a better Viper come out that you want later on. I've had my '13 for over a year and a half now, so the voucher basically eliminated most of my depreciation. I traded it in for a '14 TA yesterday, got a great deal with the trade + incentives and voucher.

When I heard the news, I was livid.

Here is a perfect example. Lets say you bought a new SRT for 100k. Few months down the line, the trade is worth 75k. Even though you get the voucher for the trade, the dealer will give you 60k for it because they're not naive.
Bottom line is, your Viper that was worth $75k is now worth $60k over night. And the only thing you can do is either forcefully "trade it in" for a new one? or just keep it and lose 15k in value.

What about the dealers that bought a used one to resell? Lets say they paid $70k for a used SRT to flip it for $75-80. but now its worth $60k over night.

A huge ASS f****** from Chrysler to every person that has ever bought a gen V viper prior.
You will not understand the situation right if you have a lot of money and dont really care losing on a car.

and please dont say "Oh its just a few thousand" Its not the money, its the principal.

EDIT: Even better example:

You have a 13' SRT that you bought new/used and are in a bad financial spot and have to sell it right away.
If you had it listed for $70k to sell it fast, guess what? you are **** out of luck. Now its worth $60k and you just lost another $10k thanks to Chrysler.

Nauman, did you pay MSRP for your car? If not, what amount was it discounted from MSRP. I can assure you, your brand new car isn't a $60K car. Mine was much higher than that. Unless you paid MSRP, you didn't lose anything. The price drop just put the new MSRP down to the normal "street price" of these cars, what they have been selling at. But what do I know, I just bought one using this program.

If they really wanted to sell Vipers, THEY NEED TO ADVERTISE THE CAR ON TV, SHOW ROOMS, CITY TOURS, When I go to a car show here in Fl. they see my car and SAY" WHEN WAS THE LAST YEAR OF THAT CAR OR DO THEY STILL MAKE THEM ?? THEY NEED TO ADVERTISE THE DAMM CAR, I DON'T FELL SORRY FOR CHRYSLER, MARKETING IS HOW TO SELL ANY THING! ( TO DRIVE )

Congrats on the TA! How much did they value your '13 at? I am looking to get into a used 2013 over the next 6 months and trying to see what used Gen Vs will be going for once more people start trading in/selling.

The letter correcting the typo on the first letter arrived today. It makes it clear that the coupon applies to any new Viper for model years 2013 through 1/2018. All of the posts to the contrary are not correct. So the coupon allows you to buy a 2013, 2014, 2015, 2015.5, 2016, 2017 or, assuming they are released at a normal time, a 2018.

This is an incredible deal.

I have been looking at Vipers, the selling prices appear to be about the same now as they were before the price change, they were just giving more off MSRP prior. MSRP went down and now they are giving less of a discount so I do not see how you lost $15K in value unless you bought for MSRP or close to it. Even then you lost just as much in resale because the selling prices now are $30K less regardless of the change in MSRP.

I personally commend Chrysler for doing something for those that bought prior to the Price Drop. You can now sell your car in a year or 2 or 3 and go buy a New Lower priced Viper minus $15k. To me they did everything they could to make this right.

Did anyone really expect them to just mail everyone $15K checks???

I know what you are saying Tony but this thing will flood the market with used GenV and causing an instant decrease in over all prices. I bought mine used at market value and that has dropped. I talked to Bernie about it also. Glad you were able to take advantage of the deal. Wish i could say the same.

I guess Im only concerned about whats in my best interest.

Still waiting for my voucher. Getting the run around !!!!
I purchased my car Sept 9th, 2014. After Speaking with Kim at SRT she said the cut off date was Sept 7, 2014. On Sept 9th the day I purchased my car on SRT website it clearly said all gen V current owners will receive this 15K voucher towards the purchase of a 2015 0r 2016 car. It did not mention a cutoff date. Is anyone else having this problem? Not happy how Dodge is handling this matter.

The Sept 7 date is consistent with what is printed on the voucher, i.e. the start of the program period being September 8, 2014. I did not read the announcement wording; so, I cannot speak to what it said or what it might have reasonably led people to interpret its meaning as.

What is this voucher business? For those of us who don't know

My reading of the forums has been that the intention was that Dodge was lowering the MSRP immediately by $15,000 at the date of the announcement (Sep 8, 2014?). Therefore, they were giving a $15,000 voucher to those that bought the car before the announcement, i.e., current owners at the moment of the announcement. The voucher to be used only to the purchase of a new Viper between Sep 8, 2014 and Jan 2, 2018.

If you bought the car after the price drop, you aren't going to get squat - there is no reason for them to give you a voucher - you would have gotten the discounted price.
