Just got the Arrow stoker 540 back with about 400 miles now, want to be ready to run the car on the track at Daytona International speedway in January?

Talked to Mcquire, I got the 5 points and roll bar, going to have to upgrade to larger rotors, 6 piston callipers and get rid of EBC greens.

Whats the best set up would you recommend and where to purchase?

also are you having the vca party in Tampa?

#1 most important thing - Super speedways are notorious for oil starvation because they have REALLY long corners. We only have road courses around here, so I don't know what works. But, you really need to make sure you have a solution in place before taking your new motor out on track.

Regarding brakes - I'm shopping also and the search key has not been all that helpful. Folks seem to feel strongly about whatever it is they have on their own car. StopTech (what appears to be a Brembo copy) gets a lot of kudos, but the road racers here in Norcal seem to smoke through rotors at an alarming rate. Brembo and PFC rotors, on the other hand, are reported to last the longest. In my opinion, the best solution would be StopTech calipers (stiffest) with PFC or Brembo rotors (JONB, you listening, how about a custom kit?).

Cooling is another variable that affects folks opinion of their brakes. While there are a lot of variations, Henry Cone's kit (available from PartsRack) may be what you want. Unless you're really fast. Then you should jump straight to 4", or larger, cooling ducts and fitted backing plates.

Finally, you need to make sure all the components are balanced. If you mix and match calipers on your own, you may need a proportioning valve to get the balance back. Complete kits usually have the correct piston sizes to be compatible with your stock master cylinder.

First, how the hell are you getting on Daytona in January??? Do you know somebody? If so, sign me up. I promise not to lap you more than twice. :)

If you’ve got the cash I’d go with 14 inch Stoptech’s and Pagid R14 pads. You can buy them both from Dan at Stoptech. There may be better systems (Porsche maybe), but Stoptech is simple, reasonable and has support available at Viper Days. I would also get some cooling ducts pointed to the center of the rotor. Cone’s setup is probably the best.

Go with hi-temp fluid. Castrol SRF is best. Motul is good.

If you want to go to Sebring next week and don’t have time to upgrade the stock brakes try to find some PFC 01 (front) and 90 (rear) pads and come join us. It’s short notice so you will have to call Phil Steinberg (239) 542-0806 (evenings).

If you’re on a budget like me you can get hi-temp ducting from racerpartswholesale.com (about $50 for 10 feet) or get the air inlet ducts from any auto parts store. Use plastic ties to route them.

The Tampa VCA party was cancelled and I’ll be at Sebring on the 13th so I won’t be able to tear up Lashinsky’s house for the Orlando party. So no VCA Christmas for me this year.
