1st - do any of you have sugestions about clear bras (pros/cons) and do any of you know a good installer in maryland?

2nd - i jusy got my car and i have the polished 5-spokes on it. i've seen people in the past talk about waxing their rims (to make clean up easier.) i have also heard people talk about a clearcoat on their rims. gotta admit, i never heard of clearcoats on rims. are mine clearcoated? how do i clean them (aside from wiping them with a soft towel every day) and can i/should i wax them? with what? any specific products you like?

sorry about the long post. i'm just excited to be back. but i can't figure how to change my "enthusiast" status to "owner", i can't list my new car and old car and i can't create an avatar of my new car! i got a lot to learn!

I'm also considering the clear bra for my car but I'd like to see it in person on a black car first.

On the wheels, I've been using a trick I read here last year where you have two California Dust Busters. You use one on the wheels and the other on the body and never, ever switch the two. After a year you throw the tire one away, move the body one to the wheels and buy a new one for the body. Since mine is never driven in the rain the wheels don't get all that dirty and any brake dust is easily wiped off with the dust buster.

As far as the avatar, go to the User CP near the top left of the forum and click on the Edit Avatar link. You can either upload an avatar from your computer (option #2) or add the link to where your avatar resides on the Internet (option #1).

Call Rob @ Proform Protective Films. He is only one person that I’ll ever trust to install a film kit plus he is in Maryland. He offers a lifetime warranty against defects and damage and let me tell you he stands behind his product, no questions asked! I had my entire car done, and he even applied the fader strip from Jon B. at Parts Rack. Rob was not satisfied with his install and purchased a brand new kit to install until he was satisfied. He uses only 3M films and offers the most comprehensive kit on the market. DON”T BE SCARED if he cuts directly on your car with an X-acto knife. I was so apprehensive that he stated that if he nicked the paint he would pay for a custom paint job of my choosing; I cringed as he demonstrated his technique and then removed the film so I could inspect the paint and there was nothing, not even a hairline scratch (no custom paint job either). His contact info is as follows:

For your wheel question I think it goes like this... if they are clear coated you can put some wax on them to make clean up easier. If they are polished you shouldn't.
In order to find out what you have take a very small amout of a wheel polish on your finger or cloth and lightly rub a very small area. If your wheels are clear coated your finger or cloth will NOT turn black, immediatly stop or you run the risk of scratching the surface. If they are polished your finger or cloth will turn black.

Your wheels are clear powder coated...also keep in mind that the 3M clear has a little more orange peel to it than the clear coat on your car...there are clear kits out there that do not have orange peel to them but they also do not hold up as well as the 3M, and they will most likely get a yellow tint to them

1 - Clear bra, yes do it. You will be glad you did in a couple of years, or you can repaint your fascia, hood and front fenders every couple of years, depending on your mileage and how nasty / rocky / sandy your roads are.

2 - Yes, the OE Viper wheels are clear coated. Care for them as you would your painted surfaces.

Use "Wheel Wax" on your wheels...best stuff out there IMO and it is safe for clear and non-clear coated wheels. You will notice a LOT less brake dust as well.
