My car has 600 miles on it and I bought it with 300 miles. the car is very difficult to shift. I havn't driven it for a while due to the fact of the recall (being done now) I could hardly get the car in Reverse and had to really work it for first to load on the Trailer.

any Problems with the clutch's? (I have yet to get on this car at all) no high RPMS at all. the VIper Tech is going over the car but just wondering if anyone else had the same?

Going into reverse on my 2003 is also difficult. Often times I am in 5th, try to back up, ah shiit, try again and finally get it into reverse.

I took out my GTS today after driving the SRT10 for a full week. Man, the clutch on the GTS is so stiff and requires almost no pedal movement to engage, at least compared to the SRT-10.

Air in the system, most likely. Or hydro component failure.

As Y2K said these cars are finicky getting in reverse, really I've had many cars like this. The trick is to bump into first gear and right over to reverse.

It's very normal not to be able to go right into reverse unless you were previously in another gear.

But if you are having trouble getting into first, try bumping the shifter into second, then right into first.

If the point of engagement on the clutch is not where it used to be, then you have a problem, but first and reverse can often require you to go in and out of another gear. It would be a good idea to let another Viper owner drive the car and they can give you a comparison.

My SRT must be at a complete STOP to engage reverse. I usually attempt to click into reverse while still going a little forward in 3 point turns. The interlock will not allow this to happen until I am completerly stopped. I have gotten used to this, however don't remember it in previous Viper.

So, Dr. Roof, did you ever get the problem diagnosed? I'm curious if it's the same loosening-pressure-plate-bolts issue that I've experienced twice. I'll tell you, it sure sounds like it -- increasingly difficult to engage first and second gear and even more difficult to get into reverse. For me, one of the tell-tale signs that was noticeable a few days before it became difficult to engage was a pulsing or inconsistent slipping of the clutch in second gear under hard acceleration -- I could feel it rapidly grabbing and slipping several times, creating the sensation of an acceleration riddled with pulses or a soft vibration. Other than this PP bolt issue happening to my car twice, I have confirmed one other instance of an SRT-10 having these bolts loosen up. Maybe your car is a another one. If so, please note that tightening these bolts to factory spec did not cure the problem for me, as it reoccurred within just a few hundred miles. The problem probably lies in the treads of the bolts or the flywheel (to which the pressure plate is anchored, as I understand it), necessitating either an assembly replacement, LocTite, or both (which is what DC is doing in my case).

Let us know.
