zosick,

Funny you should mention that,

I have just finished designing one, just have to make several different models and take em to the dyno for real hp and tq gains. But its still going to be a while for the finished product, and that is only if it makes power over K&N's and smooth tubes.

I will keep the board posted when I have the results.

The VIPAIR™ cold air deflector is a device that bring cold high pressure air from in front of you rad into the sides of your stock or H intake box, it has shown 10-12 hp increase on a rear wheel dyno.

As you can see in the pic it is high quality ABS plastic and it weighs about 1.5 lbs, we have a few in inventory and they can ship in the next week or so. The price is $129.00us plus shipping.

to order call 1-877-486-4461 ext 23 and ask for steve or leave a message and we will contact you for details. [image]http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4289526645&p=4219817430&idx=1[/image]

No my cold air is a real cold air filter setup, nothing like the Vipair plate at all. As much as I would love to believe the Vipair kit made any power on the dyno I tend to lean that it was a fluke. Perhaps when some more people test it out we will find out the facts, but for now I cant belive that removing a piece of factory plastic can or would do that.

I am going to do extensive dyno testing on my design and am going to make sure that the dyno numbers are verifiable.

zosick,

Where are you located, I will need a 2000+ Viper to test the system on as well.

Russ....really dont understand why it is nessesary to bash one product to promote or draw interest to another.Unless you have personally tested this product it would be best in my opinion to leave the harsh comments for the people that have actually tried and tested the unit, wether those comments be good or bad they will come from first hand knowledge instead of keyboard theories

Vipermad,

Sorry I didnt mean to bash anything, and really would like your product to make more power on the dyno. I will be the first to buy one if there are others who make power gains as the one stated. Your products are some of the most innovative the Viper world has seen, so please do not take my rambling as an insult.

PS. My comments were due to the fact that I had done similar type of more air testing in the past which gained no power. I performed this test on 3 different Vipers all of which had factory air boxes. Open the hood and placed a high speed 90mph fan blowing air into the air inlet on the factory box from about 3 feet away. This gained no power, hence I find it difficult to believe that opening the plastic cover can do better. But if I am wrong please explain to me how so. Thanks

Does anyone make a cold air intake for Vipers ?

Here's a product someone posted on this board a year or so ago. It is a leakproof, flame retardant intake cooler. Looks like you can put it in the freezer to cool it and then strap to your intake.

Racing Cooler

You must be registered for see images

A little under $300 for a custom Viper one, and no I have no vested interest in this company. I was thinking about getting one for drag racing and then buying one of those portable refrigerators that plug into the cigarette lighter to refreeze it if it is a long day or I have to travel far to the track.

There isn't much room between the Viper intake and hood is there? The one Roe blower I saw Friday was rubbing just a bit on the under hood cover. An interesting concept though..the material looks like Cordura , I'll bet I could make one up myself if once I found some of that material. I'd have to get out the trusty PlayDoh and stick it ontop of the plenums. runners etc and see just how much hood clearance there is.Larry Macedo said he was working on something using gel-pack too. Back in the mid-90s I put a temperature probe on my Viper intake and took the car for a drive. If I remember correctly, I found that as the engine was running down the road the intake stayed almost lukewarm; I was remember being really surprised. But once the car was standing still or turned off, the intake got super hot. If I ever got around to pulling off my intake, I'd be interested in having a heat barrier coating applied to the manifold to stop the heat from transferring as it rised from the engine to the intake manifold in the first place. If the manifold is getting over-heated due to engine compartment temperature and heat rising from the engine, the heat barrier coating might help. If the manifold is getting heated from its' connection to the heads, then it'd be better to have a coating to wick the heat out of the manifold. But given engine and engine compartment temperatures it's a safe bet it's the hot environment that's the cause...

A side note. The entire Viper community would certainly welcome the VIPAIR if it works. It's just there's been numerous new & improved airboxes presented with a lot of fanfare over the years, and none of them have shown any consistent gains on the dyno or at the strip. So to question a new one isn't bashing, just past experience. I recently saw something similar in concept for F body GM cars, but their OEM grill to airbox opening is a painfully small slit. No wonder it works! So far I've only seen one dyno report on the VIPAIR, and no drag results from independent users. Time will tell! : )

Would love to be a test pilot. I have a dyno available and go to Englishtown on a regular basis.
