Great pics. For a deeper tone, I cut out the inner chamber of the Borla tips with a Dremel.
The Viper I recently bought has some aftermarket tips on it, and I've been searching the archives a bit.
I've been concerned about heat from the tips affecting the paint above them as I added the 2 - 6" diameter Dynomax mufflers in the back and started putting things back together while keeping those larger OD Magnaflow tips..
It dawned on me that the inner chamber on OE, Borla etc tips is there to keep the outer polished tip from receiving the full heat of the exhaust and radiating too much heat to the paint above..
These Magnaflow tips are larger in diameter AND have no inner shell. So they come closer to the body due to their OD, and with no inner chamber (pipe within a pipe..) will receive the full heat of the exhaust temps coming out the back. Kind of a double threat to my paint. I'm repositioning the tips lower by reworking the hanger mounting system with longer bolts and some spacers.
Just something to think about. I saw an FE once (owned by a local dealer) with the red body area around the tips all disfigured by heat from the Borla catback tips.
Might have been a bad install-or maybe someone cut out the inner chamber. I'd say use caution when considering removing any inner chamber from exhaust tips..
