So I had the Viper in the shop today '94. While it was there I asked the Viper Tech to program my spare fob which has been sitting around for about 6 months now. Cutting to the chase, he couldn't do it. He kept getting a bus open message. He tested the Key Fob and it is ok, and my existing one works fine. He believes it is a wiring issue.

2 questions .... has anyone seen this before and are there any possible bad side effects, car runs great btw.

second, should I be able to program the remote fob by jumping the wires as in the illustrated upgrade?

Thanks for any input

It could be the Security system box causing problems. Give Chuck Tator a call, he also has a 94 and probably knows how to help. 914-763-3136

Agree with calling Chuck Tator or Tom Sessions...both post here.

Admittedly, I have NOT programmed a second fob with a DRB...But, YES, you should be able to get that job done with Ron's write-up... on a Gen I, you use the green wire.

I just did this on a member's 95 at our meeting in April. I did have to resync the newly programmed fob AFTER the programming...at which time, both fobs worked well.
