Hi there everyone, I am considering purchasing a Viper next summer, but I need some help from a member if possible. I am from Buffalo NY, and I would like the opportunity to see a Viper up close and personal, perhaps even go for a drive in one. (No, I am not asking to drive it... I would never take a chance with someone elses car like that) I have seen Viper's on the road, in show rooms, etc. but have never actually had enough time to look over one in detail. that is what I attempting to accomplish here. I have looked over one viper somewhat close before, in fact, he may even be on this board. If he happens to see this, his name was Shane, and he owned a green 94 RT/10-I was the guy driving the white VR-4 when I dropped by. Any aid in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello Dan!If you are going to get a new one you better act soon. They will build only about 1/2 as many 02 as they did 01.I ordered my 01 gts saphire in January when the dealer hadn't seen a customer for about a month and I got it in the begining of July.Yes it is put away under cover in my garage. You are welcome to view it if you like.Another member has an 01 rt in Lancaster and he can contact you himself if he likes.I was monitoring the board for many months before I bought from a local dealer with a good attitude and a very good tech. There is also a local import dealer(from Canada) that seems to come up with anything you may desire.I don't think I would buy a Coke from a machine there. If you are serious I am [email protected] 662-0464.if not please don't wast my time. BRUCE- thanks for the reply, but i dont think I will go after a new one... most likely a 98-00+ GTS or RT/10.

HEMIDAYTNA- I havent really had an oppertunity to actually see how one is constructed, under the hood, body/frame/panel design etc. I am on my way to engineering-(hopfully cars)- and I have always been very picky and interested in how a particular car is built and operates. I want a car that can give me a challenge, As with my VR-4. for anyone who has seen under the hood as a VR-4, there is not much else that can intimidate you to work on it like that car. If you drop anything, it will NEVER come out the bottom. I have yet to drop anything straight through. it usually results in me looking for it for about 3 hours!

Daniel,
I traded in my modified '95 VR4 on my Viper two months ago. They are two different animals when it comes to construction. You can actually see all 10 spark plugs on the Viper! In fact, when you open the hood, you can actually see pretty much the whole motor (What a concept!). I still fondly remember the weekend I spent changing the plugs on the VR4 (OK, I polished the intake plenum since I had to pull it off to get to the plugs, but it's still probably at least a 4-6 hour job the first time you do it). I haven't had the opportunity to drop anything in the engine bay yet, so I can't report on the recovery time for tools, but it has got to be better than the VR4. It does have some belly pans that might tend to collect a few tools though.

Personally, I am glad to be back to a good old American power plant where I can actually identify most of the components without the service manual. The Viper is all about functionality, which is great in my opinion.
