I picked up the car today from. Cora, they were using my car to test their exhaust system. It was not a simple process, they had to try several permutations of the muffler. Everything about their process is high tech and computerized. The sound altering portion of the scheme is also developed by computer.
For some reason the exhaust they developed on a GTS mule earlier in the year did not work on my car. They thought the difference (GTS vs SRT) in weight and sound insulation changed the resonant point. They tried a second system and it did not do what they anticipated. My car has the third system and I believe it will be the system they go to market with.
I put about 50 miles on the car after I picked it up, sound properties can be subjective, however, here are my views on the system:
1. They could not move or cancel the resonance that starts at approx 2000 rpm. I think it may be a little quieter at cruise till it hits 2000 rpm. At 1900 rpm on cruise control the drone is gone, but, as soon as you exceed that point it is close to the original sound level. However, the tinny sound is gone and it has a deeper sound, more like a V8.
2. The biggest difference is the sound quality and magnitude during acceleration and WOT. Again, the UPS truck sound is gone and the result is more like a strong V8. You definitely know it is not a stock exhaust. It is probably the best of both worlds, quiet at low rpms and sounds more like a race car at WOT.
My wife's comment was , "the restriction is gone".
