Wow, I really had my mind set on a coupe, pretty much because I loved the way the rear looked. Now I need to rethink about maybe a vert and this kit. No offense, but the standard vert rear looks like it came off a sebring to me.

Here are some recent pics, I just sprayed the panels and fit them on, this took approx 2 hours in the rain, I did not do a final fit or put the rear under car aero piece on as it WAS WET and I got soaked enough doing what I did. I would say that fit was comparable to how either of my 06 coupes was delivered, with an hour spent shimming and fitting a show quality job could be done

here is a link to my gallery, seems there is a technical issue right now with posting photos from it

Looks great. I see you selling a bunch of these kits at that price. I'll be watching the progress of this kit closely.

Damn you Steve!
I have already been thinking about ordering one of your '08 style hoods and got a price quote of $2500 to have it painted and have my stripes painted on. They are vinyl now and with the '08 hood, I would need to have them painted and the painter wants to re-paint my front bumper, the new hood, the rear deck, and my rear bumper so he can make it all smooth, rather than paint the stripes on top of the facotry paint. The front bumper needs re-sprayed anyway.
So my just under $4k job just jumped to $7k-$8k! Not sure if I can handle existing off of Roman noodles that long! :)

You're a bit far away, but if anyone in the North East is buying the kit and needs the panels repainted, contact me or Steve as I have a really good friend who is looking to pick up Viper clients and is offering killer deals on paint jobs. He does all the paint for Maaco Corporate, which means he does all their display/show vehicles. Not the same as their $400 drive-in specials!

Steve,
Great job but a question. What are the panels made of, fiberglass and what is the weight differential? I'm sure I have enough hp to handle the increase if any and a little extra weight in the rear would only be a benefit traction wise.

Sent you an email yesterday about the CF low profile conv. top cover I bought that was damaged. Did you get it? My email has been messing up so I've had to use my cell phone for communication. Let me know.

HEy Sal,

Your stuff went out today, got your email, just never got a chance to reply yet.

Panels are made of fiberglass, weight is pretty much exactly the same as stock, the stock panels are made of fiberglass (SMC) for the stock decklid and urethane for the quarters and the bumper. so in effect everything is a form of plastic.

This rear will probably give better top speed and better gas mileage at highway speeds or above. It is the rear that makes the coupe have a higher top speed than the convert, it is called a cam back design , where the rear drops abruptly which creates less drag.

Thanks Steve. I was just reading about the benefits of the 'cam back' design over on the Alley. I personally wouldn't care if it slowed me down. It's just that damn good looking. If you need a demo car on the East coast to go to the Viper gatherings, I'm your man. I'll even pay for the paint myself. LOL
Look forward to trying the parts you shipped and getting that resolved.

Great work Steve.

Looks great but wondering if it would hurt the resale value of the car. Its not like other mods that can be removed, or at least removed easily. I have a gen 4 hood on my gen 3 but I kept the original hood. This looks as if it couldnt be easily removed. I doubt I'll ever sell my Viper but its possible with the gen 5 coming. If I decided to sell, especially a trade in, I wonder if this would hurt.

If anything, I'd think it would HELP your resale value! Not many people would choose the 'vert rear end over the coupe but do so because they love the sunshine that much! With this, you get the best of both worlds!

CHrisss,

I would suggest keeping all your take off parts and then you have the best of both worlds, if you are careful removing your stock parts, they can be reinstalled in a few hours. Taking ones time, it is a 2 hour off, 2 hour on process, faster with a buddy, (I do the trunk lids myself etc, so it takes me a few minutes longer than it should)

As for value, I had a call from a customer in Los Angeles one day (Travis) he had a copperhead with one of my speedster bubbles on it, he called , out of the blue , and thanked me for the product as he had sold his car for at least $5K over market, (in his opinion) on Ebay, and he attributed it to having the speedster on it and the different look got him more cash.

Need to get some pics with the louvers on and the rear lowered a few inches.. would make this look even better than it already does.
