I've done it on a 2000 RT/10, should be no different - the wiring harness where you splice in hasn't changed, to my knowledge. (The addition of ABS might have changed something in the wiring harness, don't know if it would affect the cruise control installation). If you have the factory wiring diagram, you should be able to figure out any possible changes...

An hour to install??? You must be very fast. I'd budget two to four hours to do the install, depending on your comfort with splicing and wiring.

I've had the SnakeOyl kit in my car for three years now and it has worked flawlessly. It's great for long trips when us taller guys need every advantage we can get to flex our legs. :2tu:

George! Cruise Control??

See...that's how it starts. Next it's Lattes, wearing your sweater with sleeves tied around your waist, donning green golf slacks to water your petunias, reading the Washington Post (aka Peoples' Daily Worker)...

George - I know you are disapointed - but I live in the middle of nowhere and it takes over 4 hours in either direction to go play with other Vipers.

George, I put a SnakeOyl kit on my 98GTS last Sept. beforestoring it for the winter. It took me about 3-4 hours but I mounted all I could so the only thing really visable is the cable. I soldered and heat shrunk all of them. I mounted the servo to where it touches the clutch master cylinder. All the wires go through a hole I enlarged at the edge of the harness plug and the receiver is right inside the cowl there inside the car. Putting the control up by the mirror is what they recommend but I found it didn't work all the time so I put it on the side of steering wheel flush with the horn pad. Pay close attention to the position of the harness plug on the directions and don't get it backwards. I've been wiring cars for years and almost got me there. Good Luck it works great. :2tu:

Good point to emphasize. Its been a couple of years since I installed mine, and I seem to recall finding multiple instances of the same color coded wire in that wiring harness, so you have to be very careful to match the wire to the back of the engine-compartment side of the C-100 connector to know exactly which one is the one you are splicing into. I have the factory service manual, and used it extensively to double-check the included wiring instructions.

I also soldered very connection, and used heat shrink tubing where I could (not very many places, since you are, after all, splicing) and did the best I know how to seal everything back up correctly.

I think the real question is how often does someone use a cruise control. Of course, this isn't really much of a concern to those who only have garage queens, though.

Finally the weather got better and I have installed the cruise control.

Thing works great!!

Want to thank Randy and Lance for their patience and technical support as I needed a little advice at each stage of the project.

Where would I find the cruise control kit for a 2002 RT/10 and at what cost? Also, do you know of anyone in the Tampa, Florida area that has and can install for me?

Hey George,
Glad you got it all figured out. I wish I would have taken pictures of each step along the way as it would have made it a lot easier for others to see how it is done. The instructions are marginal at best...but the product is great.

If you happened to take any pictures, you should put together a step by step instructional post for others to reference.

Take care

Lance

Lance,

Will take some photos before I totally button up everything.

Will also write up some instructions.

Putting the actuator where RAYSIR did was easier than insructions' recommended spot and it is almost invisible.
