Re: Cudaman\'s 10.3 Run @ V10 Nationals (pixs)

Tom...Let me answer your question and set the story straight...."complete rotating assembly has been changed"... same orginal crank (no mods to it ,not a stocker crank), same orginal rods, yes forged pistons to same style as cars prior to 2000.

There was never ANY question I was running in the correct class as well as DR. Roof, 1Tony1, or Fuelman. I believe our class was smaller than unlimited.

I wished I could have run you, Tony, Dr. Roof and Fuelman in the Street Tire finals, but I had my GF Goodrichs Drag radials mounted so Fuelman could run in our class. If we had more time we were going to do a tire swap but not enough time between runs.

Peace

question for tom.
Does your car have one set of nitros nozzles or two?
How many all together.

Re: Cudaman\'s 10.3 Run @ V10 Nationals (pixs)

WE WERE OFFERED THE TROPHIES FOR FIRST AND SECOND PLACE IN MOD 2 IF WE ACCEPTED THE MOVE TO UNLIMITED!

Maybe I a am misunderstanding this Tom. Are you saying that if you and Saunders had went ahead and bumped up to unlimited that you would have been awarded the mod2 trophys without racing for them ? If thats true.....thanks for not accepting. It would not have been a happy experience with the officials. Please clarify if I am reading that wrong (maybe there were four trophys to give)

The question on the nozzles.....I believe Tom runs two in each tube for a total of four. If all selinoids are activated at the same time then it is one stage.

P.S. If anyone wants to haul a$$ themselves, I still have a BTR propane/nos kit for sale. Buy it before I strap it on and blow the hood off :)

Re: Cudaman\'s 10.3 Run @ V10 Nationals (pixs)

Tony,

You understood me correctly. I did not feel that this would have been fair as many things can happen when racing...as was evident with my clutch and Lee's "rag" incident.

I don't have any ill feelings towards the event staff for making us this offer,as they saw our qualifying times were much faster than the rest of the field..which by the way had NO OTHER NITROUS CARS. I just put myself in the shoes of the rest of the mod 2 racers. We did, as I earlier stated, offer to combine the last 4 cars between unlimited and Mod2 or race the winner of unlimited as a finale to the event. In the end, we(myself and Saunders) were told by the event staff to stay in Mod 2 as there was an even amount of cars between the classes and the fact that our cars are MOD 2 equipped.

As for your kit, give me a call if you don't sell it. I can make it work with your combination. That combined with your driving skills should produce excellent e.t.'s.

Maxed,

As for the "witch hunt", its getting folks nowhere. Our e.t's are what they are, as are our modifications. Even our Two Stage NOS system is in reality a Single System as a single NOS bottle and feed line supply either of the systems in question. ONE is ONE regardless of injection ports....no different than ONE forced air induction unit. We are not the first Vipers to run in the 9's with a single nitrous system..Mark H (9SecRT) and Steve Ueligger (TNT Vipers) were doing it over a year ago. Don't try to diminish our accomplishments just because NO supercharger only Viper has ran a 9 second time. In my opinion, the previous sentence is the REAL underlying issue and some folks just can't deal with it. I appreciate the fact that Dr. Roof has remained silent...and in my opinion, his car should and most likely could become the first in the 9's.

We use 4 injection ports on our Viper due to the flow limitations of the NOS FOGGER Nozzle. A nozzle can only flow so much nitrous(make so much power). Direct port nitrous systems typically use a nozzle for each cylinder...10 nozzles on a Viper...and guess what? thats a SINGLE System(we don't use them on Vipers for several reasons...but they do work excellent).

In a nutshell, we came prepared to win Mod 2 and the street tire shootout. I take my racing activity seriously. A combination of a proven car and driving experience(and a very small degree of luck) usually pays off. I rest my case and I look forward to seeing you all at the next race!

Re: Cudaman\'s 10.3 Run @ V10 Nationals (pixs)

Hello All:

This is a great debate! It is important that we learn and have a Clear set of Rules. I apologize that there were changes made during the process of planning the event. (Keep in mind this was my first time out, as well as I have drag Raced about 5 total times) My goal is to create a traveling Point series! With everyones support we can accomplish this. I appreciate the Texas and Florida Cars for their Racing Interest. It looks like Florida will host the next event! The VCA needs to step up and put some big money into this and declare an official set of Rules! Send them an email and tell them we want a SPONSORED DRAG RACING Series!!!

The Rules were MOD 2 one power adder only! This should have been more defined so there was no confusion! I really don't know how to Draw the line: Dual stage is 2 power adders, but also some people think Intercoolers are 2 power adders. I really don't know. I think a great idea next would be class breakdowns according to times?

Regardless we will work out the rules let's just keep racing!

Tom
I Ran my best against you, and I hope I can continue to improve. I think with a 1.5 short time i am in the 9's. I need your video!LOL

Guys let's keep drag racing! Next event coming soon!

Cudaman, just seen your pics and times...WOW...way to go! Absolutely awesome, lovely pics capture the moment so well, and by far the best way to photo a snake.

Re: Cudaman\'s 10.3 Run @ V10 Nationals (pixs)

Hello David,

Thanks for your input. To answer your question about 60' times, a tenth of 60' time usually equals 3 tenths at the quarter mile mark.....this is a rule of thumb and there are variables.

I received a phone call a few hours ago from a couple of friends and Viper enthusiasts concerning the single stage vs. two stage issue...so let me make this clear. My car, which is the test vehicle for ALL of our modifications is currently using the same amount of nitrous..@ 260 RWHP(the most powerful system that we currently offer) in a single activation set up, as our two stage system which is also 260 RWHP. Due to refinements in traction I am using all of the nitrous immediately from the starting line instead of the hesitation that exists from 2nd stage activation. Our two stage system makes the same amount of power..260 RWHP but is tailored towards traction challenged cars that want more power than our basic systems offer.

In my findings through several dozens of dyno tests, the throttle body injection system that we prefer to use for nitrous injection cannot flow much more power than what it is now....260 RWHP. I may in the future depending on track conditions and street use elect to fabricate a switching system to allow single or dual stage usage. THIS WILL NOT CHANGE THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF NITROUS THAT THE ENGINE RECEIVES AS THE SAME AMOUNT OF INJECTORS AND SOLENOIDS ARE USED IN BOTH APPLICATIONS.
We will make this option available to all of our current two stage and NGP system users should we complete it and will also update our website to reflect this option and associated costs. Again, we use our own cars for product development, not customers, and I am a Tuner, Owner, Driver, and avid racer. Expect when you see me at the track, that we take our drag racing seriously.

Once again, we do all product development on our own cars, and our website is not always updated until sufficient testing is complete, and my decision is made to offer products to the Viper community.

Also, as I'm sure David will attest, at no time during the BG event was the BTR contingent asked to limit our nitrous use, as a matter of fact, David had all of us intimidated as we were sure he was going to put the number down!(AND HE DID CONSIDERING HE IS STILL LEARNING THE ROPES)

In closing, I am going to start a new thread regarding future classes for upcoming drag race events. I invite everyone to participate in setting this up. If you don't speak up and help set realistic classes and rules, don't bellyache in the aftermath.
