Cut a cup holder in the center console?

Aside from the fact that your suggestion is a total sacriledge, there simply isn't room to do this. The console sits directly atop the transmission tunnel so it too would need to be cut.

Wow! Cutting a hole seems to be such a drastic option. Such a modification, even if done impeccably, will probably have a negative effect on resale value. Two options you may not be aware of:

Mopar offers a meshed drink holder for around $30 which can be attached to the side of the console and which will hold almost anything. (Also works as a map pocket.) I put one in my GTS on the passenger side of the console, and it's fine for what it is. It's also completely removable without a trace. MGW sells a glovebox door for $170, and for an additional $25 you can buy a cupholder option. You can see this at their website at http://www.mgwltd.com . I've got one on order. My initial impression is that locating the cupholder in the back of the console will require a contortionist to be able to grab the cup, but I could be wrong.

I have the MGW glovebox with the cup holder and it is a bit of a stretch, but worth it. It's very sturdy and I've never had anything ever tip over or spill. Plus I like the look of the embedded Viper medallion in the glove box door.

The MGW glove box cup holder looks pretty nice. For those of you that visited the site, you have to click on the glove box image to get an inside look at how it works--cup holder is on the inside of the plate and is exposed when you open the glove box.

Anyway, I once saw a nifty cup holder that mounts onto the ahstray of an RX-7 (replaces the ahstray). They have to make something like that for a Viper somewhere.

Found this on the net. It folds up and down. Not what I was talking about above, but might be a good alternative. It's secured to your console with a 3M adhesive pad. Better than cutting out a hole, and cheap enough to throw in the trash if you don't like it

I just bought the Viper drink holder (is meant to old a can) and I put some velcro under the older and on the center console. I can leave it there or remove it whenever I want. It will hold very well during accelaration or hard braking.

I only carry water, I've the red Viper water bottle that we got at VOI6. I went into a cycle shop and got a anodized aluminum water bottle holder bracket (for cycle bikes that fix to the frame). I fixed it behind my seat using one of the existing trim panel screws. Holds it firm, and can be got at when driving, by reaching back over my right shoulder to grab the bottle, and just drops back into place again. Flip top on the bottle ensures no spillage. If you drive with your seat right back as far as it will go, don't think there will be room though.
