Was giving a Carrera Turbo a lesson in the finer points of horsepower and took second gear to the red line and had a complete interumption in power a quickly shifted and it was fine.

Is there a protection at redline that cuts the power???

By the way the cut in power still didn't help the Porch!!!!

your rev limiter kicked in..........shift when your shift indicator light comes on at 5600rpm

i think the rev limiter is around 7100rpm's...you should be shifting WAY before that.

you gave him a lesson in the finer points of OVER-revving

Obviously it wasn't a 997 Turbo because you have to be on your "A" game to beat one.

Not to hi jack the thread, but when the new Porsche GT2 w/ 580 hp hits the streets, you will have to bring your AA game to beat one of those!
I simply suggest modifying. The GEn 3 is 2001 technology and everyone else has caught up and many have passed it by. Gotta modify to stay competitive now!

I am not really impressed with the 997 turbo as I took one pretty easily from a roll. Now from a dead start that is a completely different story.

Have to agree with Nader........from a dead stop their AWD is killer. When rolling the torquester seems to rock and roll, and above 120 .....bye, bye Porsche.

And yes, the new redline is at 6400 , and rumor says it pulls all the way to.......................

can't say, as it is just a rumor!

rev limiter,,,,,,,,thats when I shift.........lol who has time to watch the tach....lol J/K

Actually I think the shift light turns yellow and then red right? I'm not sure when it turns yellow 5600/5800? My guess hitting rev limiter is not bad at all, thats what its there for

You hit the rev limiter.....did that once, realized what I had done and shifted but there were a couple of scary moments since at the time I was going downhill, trying to pass a semi-truck, and there was on-coming traffic.....my only thought at the time was this really bad, and I mean really bad.
