I posted this over at the Viper A l l e y, but thought I would post it here for those of you that do not go there and might be interested in adding one of these to your home.

I was originally planning on building an extra garage, but decided I would use that side of the house to hold a future boat and some other toys that would not fit in the garage. That and the fact that for about $7K installed, I could get an extra 2 cars in my garage vs. spending $40,000 or more out here in California to build a separate garage. So I decided to expand the 4 car garage into a 6 car garage. For now though, I ordered just one car lift to see how it all would fit (giving me a 5 car garage.) Friday the guy came out and raised my garage doors to as close to the ceiling as he could get, in preparation for the Cytech car lift that was coming on Sunday.

Today it arrive and a couple hours later, it was up and running. Now it's all ready for when my DLM car arrives back from Florida real soon! For now, I'll just park my bike under it.

By the way, the lift can go up another 6 inches or so, allowing me to fit just about any car under the Viper, but that gives me about 1/2 inch of clearance from the roof of the car to the garage doors themselves (looks scary.) In the photos, it is high enough to allow just about any sports car under there.

What are the dimensions of your garage and what kind of ceiling height do you have and the min. necessary ceiling height to use one of these lifts?

My Ceiling is 10 foot 6 inches high, but the rails hang down about a foot, so I really have about 9.5 feet before the top of the car hits the garage doors. If your garage is lower, you can have your rails raised up so that they are literally on the ceiling -- I didnt do this as it would have cost more due to changing out certain garage door components. Measure the height of the two cars you are going to be parking in one spot, and then add 4 inches and then that is how much room you need from the floor to the garage door when it is fully opened.

I'm quite pleased, and if I get another car, I will probably order a 2nd lift and stack it side by side with this one. As of right now, all my toys fit in my garage, and that is good.
