I have small bubbles in spots over most areas on my steel grey 2000 RT/10 (except the hood). I took it to the dealer before the thrre year warranty period expired and they agreed that it was covered under warranty. They proposed to replace the door skins, rear quarter panels, trunk lid and hardtop and then repaint the rest of the car to match. I just received a message from the service manager that the factory rep. said they weren't going to cover it since the car is over twelve months old and that it happened while it was in storage. The dealer said they agreed with me. Has anybody ever heard of this 12 month warranty period? I think it's pretty messed up that Daimlerchrysler will sell me an $80k car and won't honor their warranty.

DC can be a pain in the A##!! If your Dealer agrees that it is a defect in the paint, Warranty 3y/36,000 "Bumper to Bumper" that includes exterior!! Their not making much money right now, so their pushing you off until your 3 years are up! BS! Call 800-992-1997 and file a complaint [open a "CAIR"] on your Viper!! Kept calling them, don't let up!! "Squeaky Wheel Gets Oiled!"
Good Luck!

Folks, There have been a number of posts on "bubbles" in / under the paint. I have them on my car, nearside rear pannel. They seem to appear during damp conditions and disappear when it is warm / hot.

I suspect that you will never fully remove them, even if you get a full respray!!

Do a search and read what others have said about the condition.

:( :( :(

Thanks for the words of encouragement! I took it in and had the dealer in Lima, OH document the paint problems about a week before the 3 years were up and give me a printout of it just in the event this happened. The three years expired in April of this year. I don't think Daimlerchrysler's excuses will stand up when this issue goes further. In the meantime though, I'm driving around with a crappy looking Viper. The bubbles don't seem to disappear when the outside temperature gets hot. I have read some of the other posts on this subject for background information.

Here is a delayed update on the bubbling paint. This past year, DC settled out of court with me and I got new body panels and a paint job. It took over 5 years but it was worth it. I'm glad that I got it resolved before they declared bankrupcy!

Whiskey... Tango... Foxtrot

How much did it cost you in time and lawyer fees?

Good for you for sticking in there though.

OMG! I am glad it finally worked out for you.

Post like this pretty much confirms why the american car manufacturers are why they are in the situation they are in today.

I had a similar situation with my old 03 MB and they fixed it twice no questions asked. They also sent it to one of the best body shops in the area which they happen to also own.

America better get its crap together.

Glad to hear you "finally" get a resolution to your problem. Too bad it took so f#$%ing long.
