can somone here explain the differences between a vipermania, northwind, and mopar hard tops for the Gen I Vipers? I am trying to make an informed decision. Which ones are the most difficult to deal with taking on and off? What window applications are compatible with each model? MOST IMPORTANTLY, which top makes for the most head room???? Thanks guys!

I have the VMania Top with Scoop and VMania windows. I get great comments from everyone on the top! The top goes on in 5 minutes or less. One added benefit. Biff at VMania is great. If you have any problems they are addressed without question.

hope this helps, tw

Ok, here is my take on it. I presently have the Mopar top, yes it does take a little additional time to take on and off, but it is not that bad in my opinion (two bolts to take on and off sport pad). No problems with leaks with the top and the Mopar Slider Windows in the rain. Knock on Wood!

Have seen recent pics of the Viper Mania top with the scoop and it looks nice and does not sit as high as I thought. I also saw someone post pics of side by side Viper Mania and Mopar top. Well the Mopar top in the pics looked Horrible, mine does not look that way in any of the pics no matter what angle I look at it from. Still wondering what kind of top it was or why it looked like it sat so high.

One thing I like about the AutoForm Top is how it has the painted pillar bars that as I remember Gerald saying, makes it look somewhat like the GTS from the front. Other than that it is a little higher and rounder. I wish the Mopar top had the pillar bars, makes it look more like a coupe and gives it a cleaner look.

Not sure of how many other tops there are to choose from out there but I have seen a couple RT tops that sit very high, not sure of what Manufacturer either.

If you follow the link below you can see pics of the Mopar Top and see in my opinion it really does seem to fit nice. As for headroom, I can fit in it with a helmet and have and inch or two to spare. But then again I am only 69" tall.

Last but not least Chuck Tator would be the man to get the top from!! 20 % off and a heck super guy to deal with!!

Either way I guess it comes down to personal taste, try to look at all the top manufacturers and see what you like and what fits your price.

Good luck finding a top!

Which top(s) require the removal of the pad on the sports cap?

The top I have requires removal of the pad and it goes on with two bolts (allen wrench) in the rear, and two little clips above the windshield. One man job, takes less than 5 minutes, but the thing is heavy.

Also, mine is just a cap, I have seen hard tops that have A-pillars as part of the top.

So what do I have? Mopar?

Mopar is the one that requires the removal of the Sport Bar Pad. I like my Vipermania top a lot. It's taller in the back- For the hold down brakets. I like the brackets because the top bolts through the sport bar. Never have to worry about the top blowing off. A common problem with the Mopar Top. If the brackets get out of ajustment they will not latch securely and the top goes bye-bye. Plenty of headroom. Compatable with Mopar windows, Northwind windows or there own Vipermania windows. On and off in 5 minutes no problem.
