Gen 3 is called a hydrolock, and I believe it has different characteristics from the Gen 2. Cross pin failures, and several other weakness's with this unit.

I think the problem goes back further than Gen III's. I have a '95 Gen I, the spider gear in my differential broke a month after I had it - and what ticks me off is I wasn't even getting on it that hard. Doing a search on the board shows a lot of Gen I owners have had this problem also!
