Got a call from my dealer today out in the Chicago suburbs. Look's like the Diff is on national back order, he said he dosent really have a time frame for how long it will take to get one, only thing he told me was he might have a better idea tomorrow afternoon. Hopefuly this dosent take weeks. Im not old enough to get a rental from the dealer either, ill have to borrow mommy or daddys car, they might get stuck with a neon or something? :( :usa:

LOL

Your Dealer is right. There are five on back order in the system and NO commitment date from supplier? Don't know when you'll get one?

why am i not surprized hearing this, HELLO EVERYONE DO WE HAVE A PROBLEM HERE.
i feel your pain it took 2 weeks to get mine in the 03 srt then a week for the
tech to be able to work on it. waited so long bought the 04 srt so i had one to
drive, lol. this should be a factory recall on all of them because its not if but
when will it break. MHO.

this is most likely what it looks like, notice the pinion shaft busted and
jammed down into the casing.

I would suspect that Dodge is aware of the issues with our diffs. It just may be that they are sorting out a solution, and fixing the part before releasing anymore.

Now you guys are starting to worry me. I have the 2003 SRT. I thought all the terrible things I've been reading were only on the 2004 and 2005, or that they only happened when gearing is changed from 3.07 to 3.55 or a Paxton supercharger is put on.

Do we really have any patterns of defective parts in 2003 SRTs? I believe I have a 7/70 warranty, but I'd still just as soon have any fights I need to have with DC before my 3/36 is up.

That's good, but you might want to check and see if you realy have a 7/70.

the photo above of the busted pinion shaft was out of my 2003 srt/10.

ALL SRT/10'S HAVE THE SAME REAR, WHICH BY THE WAY IS THE EXACT REAR IN JEEPS!

The 2003 and 2004 had a 7/70 powertrain warranty, as did all domestic DC vehicles. 3/36 for the rest of the car itself. In 2005 the SRT vehicles went to a 3/36 warranty on everything. It appears that the current Dodge lineup is a mishmash of powertrain warranties: The Magnum & Charger (even the base models) have a 3/36. Other models like the Durango, Stratus, and non-SRT Neon have a 7/70. Interesting...

Our pumpkin went out at 800 miles... No problems since.. I'd pressure the dealer to give you a "like" rental car.... :) We do it a lot. Too bad you're not 25...

I finally had Unitrax put a Quaife in after 6 noisy ring and pinion sets - all 3.55, and two hydroloc failures, both at 70 mph.

So far, so good, the Quaife is vastly superior to the jeep diff we got from DC, comes with a lifetime warranty against failure (even when racing). A side benefit is that the new 3.07 ring and pinion set - factory gear set - is quiet.

Good luck.

Let's hear it once again for how "bulletproof" the dodge Vipers are.
