Disappointed with the SRT staff at the NY auto show...

I think that may be the one thing that holds this car back in terms of sales: the dealership experience. A lot of people coming from buying porsche, audi, and especially ferrari will be appalled at the lack of understanding of this car and the service level they receive at most dealerships. You can buy one from the cream of the crop, that's probably pretty easy. Getting it serviced is another thing. The viper tech idea was a good idea, but seems hit or miss.

Nj doesnt have a single trusted viper tech in the state. The deakership close to me is a joke. I jist got sone kind of check in thr mail for a class action suit for some kind of questionable practices. I bought one dodge vehicle there and that wnt happen again. The only tech id trust for warrsnty work is chuck tator. Hes an hoir away luckily.

But if i have issues and need help locally, im screwed.

So i have to go to nebraska (woodhoise) to buy and an hour away in ny for service. Something aint right there......

Don't forget the many Viper friendly dealers. You need to get on a list for a dealer that you "KNOW" will have allocation or ordering ability. I have been on Tomball's list (Viper Exchange) since before VOI. I think if anyone is serious they would be on someone's list and start the conversation NOW

I am pretty lucky living about 50 minutes from Roanoke Motors and one of the best, if not the best, Viper Tech in the world.
Dave is outstanding. And the 2 hour ride was well worth it. I love the small town hospitality. Awesome

Never always know... sometimes with small town dealers, they may rarely get a Viper and mark it up just to have it sit in the showroom to bring people into the Dodge / Chrysler / Fiat dealership, it is a halo car, nothing wrong with that if they can afford to let it sit to help them market their dealership.

I had to laugh when I read this, as it fits my first Viper perfectly. I bought my '97 GTS new in the fall of 1998, from a dealer in Wisconsin that had done that very thing. Ordered it in new to attract attention on the floor and turned down several offers on the car the first few months. The problem is they kept it too long and lost any potential buyers. By the time I picked it up a year later the sales manager had been replaced and the new one just wanted it gone. I paid invoice minus the 3% hold-back and didn't pay gas guzzler tax either, a truly smoking deal I thought. I still remember picking it up with my wife, taking pictures and the whole bit. I asked the sales manager if he wanted a picture of it and his reply I will never forget; " the only picture I want of that car is of its' tail lights leaving my lot". Sure enough, as we are leaving I look in the mirror and see them back there taking a picture of us leaving the lot!

We don't have a Viper certified tech; however, a local dealer has a mechanic who works on the owner's Viper. He has serviced mine for three years. So far (3 years) I have had great
service.

This is a funny thread. Those people who think that companies don't desire loyalty are nuts, and frankly don't live in the real world (simply look at the Billions spent on customer loyalty systems by virtually every type of product or service in the world). We have heard the company will put VCA members first, I take them at their word. Anyone who was there this weekend, that thinks SRT does not appreciate the VCA must have seen a different show than I did.

Some of the staff at the booth were not well informed, I will leave it at that.

Many dealers might try and get over sticker, they don't get to do that for long, and I bet ironically, they won't be SRT certified. There are many loyal, VCA supporting dealers who won't charge over sticker, I'm on the list with Viper Exchange, Bill is taking orders, both highly recommended.

Good Gawd, I hope so, it's 15 years newer with nearly 200 more hp and lighter. They did a great job for the target market they are after. I'm just not in their demographic anymore. And it isn't the money, it's the gadgets, nannies and bling. It's a beautiful car, performs great and has all the bells and whistles...just like all the others.

service.

My dealer also recently lost their "Viper" tech, but ALL the guys there know their stuff, and have taken good care of all my cars an trucks over the years. It helps that the service manager owns an SRT10 Ram, too!

SRT appreciates and respects the Viper owners and VCA Members - a lot.
All of us at the Gala saw that first hand. The product specialists there were trained to answer questions on the car but not on the program that is being developed for VCA Members.

Take heart, SRT informed the group at the President's Meeting in January that they were working on a priority order program. It will not be a coupon program like in 2003, but will definitely give VCA Members a priority on the orders.
Details on this program to follow as they are finalized.

Keep the faith.

ps. SRT is working long hours every day on these new Vipers. We're working on setting up a chat session in the near future with the engineers/designers. That should be pretty exciting as they will finally be able to share some great, new info.

Regarding the need for SRT Certified Viper Techs.

I have recently spoken to several ViperTechs that have set up independent Viper service facilities.

They already have all the training, experience, and specialized tools necessary to provide VIP service to the Viper Community.

Most of us perfer to go to these guys after the warranty expires due to their professional nature, and their convenience.

To a man, they all have indicated a desire to be able to do warranty work on Vipers, but for that we are now forced to the much less pleasant dealership experience.

Hope that in some way SRT can reach out to these independent ViperTech shops to offer them the ability to do specialized warranty service on the SRT line of vehicles.

Maybe we could invite some of them to VOI, where the SRT guys could talk to them directly, and perhaps work out a servicing plan.

THIS, will NEVER happen. just saying..

There isn't a dealer in New York I would trust to put air in my tires, never mind work on my car.
Who's going to work on them.

In the same boat as you plum! Whatever happened to that dealer that used to sell a heap load of vipers there in Joisy? Dont they have a viper tech?
