Disturbing Viper pic (not for sensitive viewers)

Yeah. That's the time that the car alarm went out and the car wouldn't start. I didn't take a pic last month of when the car was towed because of the clutch going out.
I have had the car two months....two tows, two new tires, and two tickets.

Keep in mind, I love it more than any other TWO cars I have owned.

You need to sell it and get a corvette! 
everytime I log on, all I here is something going wrong with the viper's. I beginning to have second thoughts about the 2000 gts I just purchased. Nothing has gone wrong yet. but Im just waiting for something to go wrong now. Dont get me wrong I love all the post because now if something does go wrong, I can now pinpoint it. It just worries me that all.
haha thanks for reminding me...that's another added expense. However, my "repair/maintenance/ticket" expenses still have been more than my payment/insurance costs.
But the car is running good now, and the clutch/tires needed to be replaced, so it is better than ever.

On the flip side, I've seen tons of posts from folks that have had their Vipers for ever and had no problems with them. . .
The only thing that has really "broken" was the aftermarket alarm, which caused the pic above. The car came with an aftermarket Viper alarm (not Dodge Viper, but the actual alarm company name is "Viper"). That shorted out or whatever, and I had the car restored to the stock Dodge car alarm. The tires and clutch were bound to go out sooner or later. I got 30K on them before they were toast.
Oh yeah, I also had to replace the aftermarket Alpine receiver with another aftermarket Alpine receiver. That was another couple hundred bucks....

I had the power steering pulley break off one week into ownership and left me high and dry on the side of the road. Off came the belt, car overheated, fluid went all over the road and had to get flat bedded also. That pretty much sucked.

Anaconda: Thats not so bad the Alarm keeping the car from starting. The tires and the clutch must of cost a pretty penny. I hope you upgraded the clutch though.

You could have had Viperjons problem or mine. I blew my rear end 50 miles from home and had to go 35 mph down the highway listening to the grinding clatter. I had no AAA to tow the car and thought it would make it... It made it but the entire rear end, and one axle did not.

Venom1 its not very common to have problems with the vipers, I have only had 1 issue (if you can even consider it a major issue) I had a leak detection pump do on me and set off a check engine light $110 fix, only other time my check engine light went on was when my dumb a$$ dident tighten the gas cap.
but of course when you start modding the car if everything is not perfect you may have slight issues.

If any of you guys get stuck with Anaconda's NO START problem, on an emergency case, unplug the EEM module. It is under the dash near the gas pedal. It has three plugs in it. Then plug it back in. This may allow you to then start the car. Do not use the keyfob until you get home. This may trigger it back into alarm mode.
This module is made by DEI. Yes...the SAME company that makes the aftermarket Viper brand alarm system.
Don't ever let anyone put in an aftermarket alarm system that is tied into the EEM. The EEM triggers with 10 volts and not 12. Things can get REAL goofy if some novice punk installs it. You will have nothing but problems.
I have spent many many hours working on Vipers and Electrical issues.
Are Vipers reliable? Yes. I have owned a few sports cars. I would rate the Viper at the top of the game. Now my Corvette broke down a lot! This is not normal.

Not meaning to contradict, but you can tie at least one aftermarket alarm into the EEM. I'm guessing it all depends on how and to which leads you tie it in.
I've had good luck with the CrimeStopper RCM3000, which I installed myself. Its a pager add-on to an existing alarm system - all it does is trigger a pager to an alert condition.
Its only connected to the door and hood sensor inputs to the EEM, by splicing it into the wiring harness right next to the EEM. As its only tied into these inputs (and is over a megaohm of impedance), it evidently doesn't cause problems with the other functions of the EEM. I wired mine up to be always armed and will always send out signals that display on the pager display as a door open, hood open, trunk open, or car running. You just choose whether to have the pager itself turned on.
I find it a good amount of piece of mind, especially when I'm out to eat, or travel cross-country and park the Viper in a hotel lot.

umm...I am one of those Viper guys who has had zero problems (where's the wood!?). My Viper has been flawless (knock knock again).

ViperJon, I can relate to your problem. I to had my power steering pulley fly off three weeks ago, approx. 5 miles from my house. I was fortunate because it was only 19 degrees when it happened, however, I had to run three traffic lights and do 20mph in order to make it home. I did not lose any fluids and the bottom line is that I was very lucky so I feel your pain.
