Do Viper Wives Really Have a Clue?

Earlier this month my Wife and I were enjoying the views at a sidewalk cafe on Beverly Dr. in Beverly Hills, CA. As we watched the endless parade of high-priced vehicles drive by my wife suddenly shrieked, "Oh, look at that one, what is it?" I said, "Well hon, that's a black 2000 Viper RT/10 identical to the one I've been driving you around in for the last 7 months." "Oh, it looks different," she replied.

Am I the only Viper owner that has to put up with this kind of abuse?

I think Chuck has it figured out.

When I get cranky around the house, my wife says: "Don't you have a track weekend coming up soon? You need a break!"

We have such an understanding relationship

Yep, mine doesn't have a clue either....there is no place for her purse

But one time I dropped her off and waited.... when she came out, I gave her the key and told her to put her package in the back of the GTS.

As I looked in the rearview mirror, she put the key in and started pulling up on the rear spoiler instead of the glass hatchback

Geez, I am doubly blessed. My wife loves Rodeo Drive, but:

Brenda allowed me to evict her Corvette when I bought a 2nd Viper. (Conditionally....she gets a double-carport, and a cover.)

She works on track days with VCA and ICSCC, runs her 300 HP Vette a few laps as a 'reward'. Sits right-seat as Pace Car communicator when we are short-handed.

A highlight of her motorsports season in 2000 was to "Stage" the Viper Pace Car last year.....she drives it to the pit-out staging area, and climbs out to the applause of fellow workers and some fans when they see a lady at the wheel.

Hmmm. Liz and I both love the car. If we're both going out in the Viper, she and I alternate driving. If we're going with our 2-year-old son, one of us drives the Viper and the other drives one of our "family cars". I rather enjoy seeing her drive down the road in the yellow beast, and watching people double-take as they see a Viper, then triple-take as they realize the driver's a woman

All's I know is that my wife is well trained. Sometimes I take her to the shopping center in the beast, and drop her at the door, then park in the boonies and watch for her to come out. She, not knowing where I've parked, can locate the direction of the beast by the sound of it starting, and head off into that direction. She says it sounds like thunder. This is accurate up to 2 city blocks! Only problem, if a storm is in the neighborhood, she might mistake the storm for the car and be last seen heading off into the sunset.

OK OK,
I have a great wife story to add! Here goes:
My wife is far too understanding about my sports car habits,
with that said: We went to Phoenix this weekend to pick up our
new Z06 (she seemed completely unimpressed)On the 5 plus hour trip she confessed to going to Mexico a few weeks ago.(we live in San Diego)As she crossed the border she noticed something was going on and they had just closed the border as they do sometimes. She was stuck in Mexico alone! So she decided to go to the next border crossing. The only poblem is all the street signs are painted over so she didn't know wich way to go. She noticed about 50 cars with California plates all in a line and thought she would join them thinking they must be heading for the next open border crossing. After about 30-45 minutes as they all turned into a cemetery she relized she had gone deeper into Mexico and had been following a funeral procesion! She said she was completely lost and near tears, her cell phone didn't work and she was alone! She finally drove around untill she found a Mcdonalds and an employee was nice enough to draw her a map to the open border crossing. (she was so embarrassed)
My wife is great,
Life is too short to sweat the small stuff!

"Well done, William!" ...from my wife, Elaine...who lives for HER ViperS, their speed, feel, and NOISE (and who has NEVER turned on the radio as it would interfere with the engine and exhaust sounds). "Love the one you're with"...THE VIPER!!!!!!!!!

*****,

I thought about replacing my wife onetime but the prospect of being homeless and Viperless seemed a little unappealing back then.

Maybe I'll suggest a Mexican shopping spree with 2charmed's wife.

Mark B.> I'll be thinking of ya next week when I'm in sunny Naples, FL watching all the high-priced vehicles drive by. Don't let the frost bite.

Well, I guess Sue sits in the middle on this. When she first saw the car she said "it looks evil", and wouldn't go near it. Now, she loves the stares she gets at the car shows. After an afternoon of everyone gawking at the car, she hops in with our daughter (3), and drives away with the biggest grin on her face.

She has developed a very deep respect for the HP, and is very carefull with the throttle. I doubt she has ever had it into triple digits.

OTOH, she has developed a great deal of patience with my obsession for cars. We have been married since 1980, and I suppose I have averaged a car a year. Now if I could just explain to her why I want to do mods to a car as outrageous as our GTS...
