some funny and good ideas in this thread.

frank barba has a great idea though. a FGT would certainly do the trick. my car is just about worthless at this point making it tough for me to swing the FGT. hmmm i know DLM would rather be working on a lambo for me. Doug even talked me into going TT if i got a gallardo, gave me a sweet deal on it. i dont know.....

the weather has me in a funk for sure, been busy working lately.....maybe winter will change my mind on all this.

Plum, SELL IT NOW. Anyone who thinks their car is "worthless" is not getting enough out of it to keep it around. Find something in your price range that gets your heart beating again. Whoever ends up with your car will be glad you did.

Or put a cover on it and don't go near it until March. If the feeling remains, then just give the keys to someone and walk away.

Plum, Sounds like time for a new ride. Agree with Treesnake to check out a Gen 3/4 as it feels totally different than a Gen 1/2, and still has Viper heritage and the unmatchable feel of the torquemoster V10. I would agree with others about the weather, economy, etc - but it sounds like your funk has been going on for some time.

I am also a bit bored or maybe indifferent with my Street Serpent and have been debating selling it so that I could do another Street Serpent project all over again. That or possibly the ROE TT kit if that ever becomes a reality.

Good luck with the decision and let us know what you decide.

Nope Plum sorry. I will never get tired of it. The demise of big cubes in the 70s was heartbreaking for me and suffering through the worst decade in automobile history in the 80s almost killed me. After that I will never ever take my 488 CID manual shift Viper for granted. I still love every mile of it.

I'm on my third Viper, an RT10, a GTS, and now a (soon to be Paxonized) SRT. I get tired of things really quickly, and got bored of both my RT10 and GTS about a year into ownership. I've had many different cars in between the Viper, but I always seem to come back to this car. The power, the looks, nothing compares at this price level.

Sounds like you need to try something new. Lambo or FGT or even a porsche.
I feel the some way sometimes....until I make the effort and take the car out for a drive then its new love all over again. I tend to only feel like not driving when work or life is stressful and I just wanna seat on my ass and do nothing.

Rocket, the weather has a lot to do with it and it has been for a while now. pretty much all year. but when im in it, i love it again. just sitting here.....i cant be bothered with it.

chuck, i knew your answer but was surprised you didnt yell at me for not using the car correctly (tracking it)...lol

Going to the track is ALWAYS and eye opener on how fun these car are.

Get Doug to put some hairdryers on her for ya:) Maybe your car can be the basis for a Gen 2 kit from DLM.

phoenix, you dont know how true that is sometimes....lol

OK, i know what im gonna do...., im gonna detail the heck out of it (it needs it), re install the nitrous. just a small 50 shot will do. id like to be over the 1K rwhp mark. the bottles, lines, wiring are all still there, just need to figure out where im gonna put the solenoids.

then vinyl stripes. not sure what color stripes but leaning towards purple or graphite. if i dont like them, they come off easily.

A friend of mine has a silver 98 GTS with graphite stripes. Looks awesome! The stripes match his anthracite Iforged wheels almost perfectly. You can't go wrong with that color combo.

I'm telling you, it's like driving a new car. I would NEVER go back to a naked GTS once you have the stripes on. Like somebody said, without stripes your not sure what car that is 1/4 mile away, with stripes there is no doubt.

This was me almost 4 years ago....

That's one of the reasons I traded for an '08. Something new, but not entirely. Put 7,500 miles/year on the Gen2 and now close to 10,000/year on the Gen 3/4 (what the heck Gen are we calling the newest version????).

Trade for an ACR Plum...or make the changes you're considering. Just take some time to make your decision after 7 years. Attempting to make "changes" to your spouse usually yields divorce. Much easier to make "changes" to your ride. ;)

The reality is, being smitten with anything is all in your mind anyway. From time to time everything needs a fresh perspective. So, here is what you do: Rent a motorhome, if you don't have one already, and take a week long trip, then follow it up by renting a Prius for a week as a daily driver. In the mean time put your Viper under a cover. If that doesn't reboot your need for Viper induced speed, think about selling and imagining a driving life without access to the four wheeled beast currently shading your garage floor. Who knows, perhaps she can help....:rolaugh: Come Spring, it will pass...

8+ years of daily driving, and no problem like that, just mash the pedal and that problem will be fixed asap!

and don't paint or stripe it!

My problem on that theory is that my daily driver is an SRT-8 Jeep. The dang thing is so fast it sates the need for speed.

Phil, get in touch of Denny and get one of his body shops to paint it. Plum Crazy in color maybe?

Anyway,,,,,Denny could probably hook you up with the stripes also.

Don't worry, no sheep will be near your car. He keeps them locked up at his "ranch". ;)

Stripes for sure. Vote for graphite or dark purple like the Viper Violet hmmm.
Photoshop needed.

To answer the original question. No.

OK.... took it out today for a few miles. Dang thing runs great and made me wanna keep it again. stripes are a must though. leaning towards graphite but black would match the wheels...

a few blasts out to mexico and back can really do a guy good... :)

flash gordon doesn't know it yet, but his lift is gonna be held hostage this winter while i detail the heck out of it too.

Plum, go with your idea of stripes. It'll be like a new car to you. To get the excitement back, get out of Jersey! Just kidding, calm down people.... Really, to get the excitement back, drive the car to a convenience store or Dairy Queen, go inside and buy some scratch tickets or something to eat. When you go back outside, stay away from the car. Just watch it. Watch the reactions to it when they don't know it's yours, The awe in peoples faces, especially the kids, will remind you why you got it in the first place.
