Does the 3\" exhaust make that much of a difference?

I'm curious if the 3" exhaust pipe makes any difference than the stock ones? Besides appearance...any performance gain?

Anytime you can move gases out faster, you're bound to see a performance increase.

Re: Does the 3\" exhaust make that much of a difference?

I don't have an exact science answer myself, because I didn't baseline dyno my car. But, from what I've seen & heard, many 2000's post rwhp numbers in the 399-410 range. I have the 3" Balenger catback (and filter & smooth tubes) and did about 426 rwhp on a "drive up & dyno" run. So, depending on what the tubes/filters are worth & my true baseline, I would guess I got from 10-20 rwhp out of the exhaust. Of course, the car sounds like I picked up 100 hp, huge improvement in exhaust sound & the tips look great.

Hey AB. Hows is going. I finally got that wing on (Thanks for the tips)

I installed my cats and 3 inch corsa for the sound/looks. I didnt expect to pick up alot of Ponies but I can honestly say I can break the tires looks alot easier now. I know that is not as scientific as a dynamometer but I can honestly say I feel a difference, and I am usually weary of some of these manufacturers gains. So, yes, I think it made a difference.

Good luck.

According to Snake-Oyl catalog, you may actually lose some HP if you do not also change for 3" header.

I agree and will elaborate on that -

It all depends on your current mods. I don't encourage replacing a stock catback system with 3" if you have mild mods. You really can't take advantage of the 3" catback replacement w/o improving other aspects of performance. I would recommend headers and 3" c/back all the way till the exhaust exit.

Doug
