Re: Doesn\'t this look wonderful.........

I would have everything new !!
no patch jobs... and have a shop that has done stripes before
do yours.
the steps were posted here before. try a search for accuracy

but i think they said. the stripes were painted then clearcoated so that they should have a "factory" edge.

did you get the other guys insurance info??

good luck and bummer!!!

The ONLY Viper Shop I know in the Northeast is Chris Barone (of Viper Days Fame). He's in West Orange, NJ

Chris Collision: (973) 736-0465

Chris is the racer witht he shark toothed Viper that you see in Viper Mag.

He's had plenty of Viper experience, and he always has 3 or 4 Snakes in his shop!

Ouch- so sorry about your accident and glad you are OK. Hope the other driver does indeed have current insurance.

Taillight and backup light assemblies are NOT CHEAP - in the neighborhood of $300 for one and $180 for the other. The rear fascis isn't cheap, but those things are so darn flexible, it maybe salvagable (if YOU want) but make sure you keep it as a spare and sell on Ebay..

The thing that concerns me most is the crack in the rear quarter. That panel is glued on and a PITA to take off. I would recommend getting a new panel, but its a pretty big job. Agree with Joe Houss on recommendation for Chris Barone.

Good luck and let us know how it works out, OK?

If anyone knows a good shop in the NY area (Nassau, Suffolk) that is good with Vipers (doing stripes, etc), I would definitely appreciate any names.

Thanks for the comments.

I'm glad nobody was hurt.
I can suggest, and highly recommend Mill Pond Auto Body, on Merrick Road, in Bellmore, ask for Joe. Sorry, I don't have the telephone number handy. He can make your baby as good as new, tell him that I sent you, he'll take care of you

I would definately call Chuck Tator. I just spoke to him Friday about Body shops and he seems to know a real good guy in Katonah. This guy also did my side panel and it came out like factory. Chuck: 914 763 3136

Good luck, accidents S**K!!

I concur unequivocally. Absolutely great work. You'll never know the car had been damaged.

I can't believe that!
I saw your car on 347 on Saturday. It was a great week end for a drive. Were you hit on 347? I hate driving on that road, especially on week ends where so many drivers are pre-occupied with everything EXCEPT driving.

JG,

Very sorry for your accident, but look at it this way it could have been alot worse right?

The damage seems fairly minor, just find the right person to fix it and you will never be able to tell it was hit.

One suggestion though, check inside the car under neath the carpeting for other damage in the hatch area. Even on the other side of the car, the problem with fiberglass is that it does flex and can crack in spots far away from the obvious impact.

Good luck.

That is a sad sight. I like the silver stripes on a red GTS. I hope the guy can pay up.

On a completely separate note, I'm looking for a wrecked Red GTS with silver stripes to make into a track car. Know of any?

Re: Doesn\'t this look wonderful.........

Been there, done that. That tear in the side panel takes more work than most insurance adjusters like to think, don't let them jack you around. Call every source they list on their estimate sheet and verify the information. I found the info provided by the four sources provided to me by my ins. co. for one incident was bogus.

Any landing you walk away from is a good one.

I was rear-ended twice in a 6 month period last year. Some real idiot drivers out there I tell you. But the damage to my Viper was hardly noticeable since it was at very slow speeds and hit square on the bumper. Yours does not look so good however.

JG, man I am glad you weren't hurt!! It doesn't look good, but have Chris give me a call if you need a rear skin ( bumper ) , as I think we have a take off that he could get cheap. I would definitely take the car to Chris as he is well respected for his paint and bodywork and he does alot of stuff on Vipers. He races Snakes, fixes Snakes, and does killer paint work --- in other works he is a fellow Viper Sicko. He will do you right !

Re: Doesn\'t this look wonderful.........

I'll third what ACR Joe said and say Chris Barone is the way to go. I have never had work done by him, but I met him at E-town last year and I saw a few cars he had worked on. If he hadn't pointed out that he worked on them, I'd never have known. And even when he pointed it out, I couldn't tell where the work was done. Factory (better actually) results - you would not be disappointed I'm sure.
