After a trek to Detroit and a little Ivan Stewart Vipering along good old Telegraph Road in Detriot, my viper is really loud. The sheer jaring of the car from the WORST ROADS IN THE COUNTRY ripped 2 exhaust hangers off the elbows on my bellangers leaving a nice hole on either side. Does any one have any experience with exhaust patch (other than welding in a stainless piece to fill the 2inch by 2inch hole?) I had one side patched while I was in Michigan by a kid that was nice enough to do an emergency weld but the other side gave way on the way back.

Worth a try.

Thanks,

Or does anyone live in Naperville Illinois that can weld and has equipment??

I had the Merlin muffler shop fix mine. Corner of Eola and New York. I still had the exhaust chunks so they were able to just weld it back on.

Are these the front hangers right behind the front wheels? If so, I had the EXACT same problem. Drove through Michigan, crappy roads jarred my teeth out, then discovered both front hangers ripped off my Belanger elbows.

First problem - I was never told (but should have known) that the front hangers should not be used with the Belanger setup. There's no flex pipe so the front mounts make the exhaust too stiff.

Second problem - Michigan roads ****.

Thats really funny. You had the EXACT same problem caused by the exact state. I stopped at that same merlin and they told me they wouldn't touch the car. Ill probably just take off my sills and drive around until I can find someone so if you see a Sapphire GTS running around with one sill on make sure you flip me the bird.

Gerald.
Toof is a great guy and a metal fabricator but he is in Addison.

Thanks for the responses.

Its the new thing. All the cool kids are doing it.

Speaking of cool. When I was in detroit I met Ralph I finally pried it out of him that he designed the SRT. Really nice younger guy. I talked to him about his GTS (which he had there) for a while. He did a bunch of DIY no cost engine cooling mods which Im doing this weekend. Ill post pics.

Tracy. What does your car look like? I forget. Ive seen a couple vipers running around here and dont know who is who.

You might want to try the performance shop on Ogden in Naperville. I can't think of the name, but it is across from the GMC Dealer. They do alot aftermarket work on Suburus and NSX's. I've been there a few times to buy Motul and they seem to be good guys.

Yeah. When I took my coilovers off I took the pieces to them for their coil spring compressor. They did it on the spot free of charge.

They seem pretty cool.

Birvini...you must be talking about GRD off Ogden. I don't know if they do welding though but they are a bunch of cool friend's of mine :)

Keith...take it to TOOOFST's shop. He'll do anything for you. I'll drive your car to work one day and bring it to him during lunch if you want

Awe come on. That's half the fun of living here and dodging *** holes. I've never had a problem with *** holes and my car. You just need to drive with your eyes peeled for road hazards and a quick evasive manuver when you spot one.
