Maybe six months ago, at one instance when trying to close the driver door, it just banged roughly and didn't close. Hadn't been a problem since until the other day, and it's happened a couple of times, but banged roughly (like maybe the window didn't adjust?) though closed. Any ideas?

My 08 did it just the other week. Sounds like the car was in a bind...I moved it and then it was fine. Makes me think the frame was twisted a little...I mean the tires are quite wide.

The door will make that sound if the window has not dropped when it was opened. Check the paint by the roof and see if it was marked up or chipped. The door glass will get by it but with a lot of noise and possible paint scraping.

So is there a fix for that?

Mine does this, too. My dealer said it's cause one of the rails is cracked on my regulator.

The regulator drop sequence and amount can be changed by the dealer along with the tilt inward of the window. If that does not fix it they could try a new regulator.

I have a feeling that if they adjusted the drop sequence and inward tilt it would have made up for this. In the end I spent $120 to have them tell me the regulator guide has a crack - and my window is still a little funky. Perhaps I'll take it back to them and tell them to adjust it.

This has happened to me several times and the fix was simple for me. I just turned the key in the ignition and turn it to on position without starting the car and then while it is in the on position push down the door handle until you hear the sweet clicking you do when the door open. That is what i do and it does correct the issue.
As far as what causes it i don't know.

My car has done that also.......its a vert but the window does not drop down enough sometimes which causes the window to hit the "A" pillar when it closes. I had the dealer reeplace a few switches (not sure which ones) and then gave the car back to me. It seemed to fix it for a sort time but then did it again. I started looking at the window myself and noticed that the drivers window is tilted inward more than the passenger window so i'm sure thats the problem, the passenger window needs to be adjusted inward.
