Door hinge problem chips paint - warranty?

My 98GTS driver door came out of alignment within a year and was fixed no charge under warranty. The passenger door (which has probably been opened and closed less than 100 time since new) developed same last month problem, but resulted in a chip on the door edge when it hit a grommet/rivet when closed hard. $500 fix as entire door must be painted. My dealer says not covered by the premium Chrysler extended warranty despite supposedly covering "latches and door mechanisms". Anybody else have this situation? Thanks for your time.

My understanding of the MaxiCare warranty is that fit/finish items like door alignment are not covered. It sounds like your hinge did not fail, just came out of alignment. If so, I don't think you will find it covered. My door alignement adjustment was not covered despite the extended warranty.
