DOOR SPEAKERS, DID ANYONE TRY THESE

hi all, went to cc today to buy the polk's everyone was talking about. they had alpines next to them for same price but did sound better, the alpine model #apn-sps170a had better specs for same price and you could really hear the difference. my question is did any of you see or listen to them when you bought your polk's. if you did did anyone buy them. i'm hoping install will be the same as polk's. i plan to buy them tommorrow so if anyone has any answers please post asap. also with the alpines your able to point the tweeter towards you.

I listened. For some reason, the Polk grills looked better to me. I guess it was a silly reason to choose them, other than my bro has a set of home speakers from Polk that sound awesome. Too bad the grills in the box don't work on the SRT! DC decided to use three screws instead of the normal four to attach the speaker.

The OD of the Polk grille is about 1/4" larger than the SRT and does not fit in the tight opening either. I also liked the agressive style.
The 3 vs 4 screws I could have drilled to fit but the grille is already my kicking plate getting in or out and sticking out an extra 1/2" would have been another obstacle.
I thought the Alpine had the same sound. Oh yea, try ordering your speakers on line from CC. I got them $20 cheaper than the store price and you can pick them up at the express line checkout.

I listen to both at CC and the salesperson said the Polks were better made and more durable. He had no agenda since I was going to buy a set either way.

i bought the polks. went with a friend who has a 02 rt/10 and he thought the polks sounded better. i also bought the alpines. lol. we installed each speaker in the car to see if one was better then the other, well polk won hands down. also much easier install using polks and much better sound. this should be mod #1 on a srt. guys thanks for all your help and input on this subject, it really made a difference, i wasn't even thinking about upgrading the stereo but really glad i did.
